My suggestion is to remove doubloons and combat marks from the game, replacing them in every instance with reals.

I think if the game returned to a one currency system, the immediate improvements would be far-reaching and incredible. Removing doubloons would immediately make trade goods matter, as more profit can be made in shorter amount of time with a real trade fleet. Cargo and passenger missions should stay, but the doubloon reward should be converted to reals. They still provide a good source of income risk-free. Removing combat medals would instantly stop a lot of seal clubbing, as most players only do this to get easy combat medals. Instead, I suggest a reward of 100x the BR of a ship killed/captured in PvP. It would give players more reason to go after bigger ships and leave noobs and small traders alone.

Converting back to one currency system would be relatively easy. Simply gfigure out a conversion rate for doubloons (I suggest 150-200 reals per doubloon) and then convert every instance in game into that amount of reals. Clan Missions giving resources to Copper are 40k Doubloons right now to fulfill. Make it 6-8 million. ~7k doubloons to craft a Victory? Make it 1 - 1.5 million reals.

Combat Marks would be a little harder to convert, but I think it could be done, looking at how much they tend to sell for. As of right now, netlify maps shows they go for around 100k each at most freeports, so that could be a good conversion rate.

To reiterate, all mission types could be kept. PvP missions would still be very profitable, but not the only or even the most efficient way to make money. also, they would likely be more fulfilled by killing actual ships of war and not traders.  I don't know about y'all, but I'd rather take my chances against a Wasa that could land me 400,000 for one kill plus a +1 on my combat mission over the 4,500 reals that a trader brig would give me. To reiterate, these reals rewards would be for PvP kills, not AI kills. The PvP zone would likely get a lot more popular, which is always good. Please comment and let me know what y'all think. I feel like it'd be a quick and easy change to the game that would have very positive effects.

nice math.

and no thank you. there is a logic in having 3 currency. Although trading needs enhancements.

reals are everyday currency. doubloons are crafters currency, mostly. Also used for Admiralty baseline items. Combat medals are the Admiralty currency by excellence.

One of the beauties of this new system is the ease of access to items.

I don't need to "hunt for reals" to acquire books or modules. I simply can use the other currencies both player to player or in the admiralty.

The same way, and the game is practically run by player made economy ( no matter how greedy that economy is), one can acquire ships from crafters using the other currencies and not only reals.

Is this whole scenario bad or good ? Well... neither. But at least any player ( war server ) can access excellent equipment from the Admiralty if said captain fulfils missions.

But at the same time, the trade that represents the age of sail got a bit lost and majority are barrels and passengers in transit without any intrinsic value for the privateer or corsair.

But then again the clans have the ability to build everything they might need in the ports they control, it is safer and not so open to constant raider presence in production ports.

Is the whole scenario bad or good !? Neither. Some like it more historical simulation credible, others like it more mmo mechanized. In the end is all about the clan and how them members play with each other. It reaches a point where cash is almost never used. Ships for OW are crafted by the dozens and everyone always has a half a dozen ships to spare in all outposts.

We currently have 4 currencies: reals, doublons, medals and victory marks. I think this is too much and impossible to balance.

The cost for keeping so many currencies in game is one value: FUN.

Instead of the doubloons wie can go back to tge 2016 gold and silver coins, that can be crafted.

Somehow the output of the bigger ships have to be slowed down a bit.

I admit I ve lost track of the benefits of keepin the doubloons currency, at first that made sense but now ?

And the victory mark ? Pretty limited once port investment are done, dlc ship notes for vm could be helpful (once ship notes balanced with rng bonuses)

1. keep investing in basic resources in your ports so that everyone could lower their outpost count dedicated to econ.

2. stock up on vic marks for our eventual move to Russia 🤔 (or is it spain now? I haven't decided).

Yeah exactly,

develop a 2nd 45 points port, differently from the other for different ships profiles.

Economy feels good as it is. Why would you change it? It took a long time for it to get this stable.

This is also part of the problem, and its weird that there is 0 explanation for new players how this works..

This game is released now yet for so much info you have to do a forum search, wiki is outdated etc, devs should really fix this..

But hey atleast we get another dlc  ship to buy
