Ned Loe Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Naval Action box art image. Image Name Modern Box Cover
FreshTheFallen Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Into the Sunset... The font is still WIP, I just can't find one that I like and find fitting. One question I have, is it possible to submit several entries? I have a few other motives and ideas I'd like to capture aswell. 4
Flip Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I'm working on one with original artwork, is there a rough deadline we could have so I can pace myself?
Grim DeGrim Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 BELLONA BROADSIDE Tips or tricks for how to remove the white "edge of zone" bar on the horizon appreciated... in retrospect, CTRL+H should have removed the horizon... 6
Grim DeGrim Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 TBH, I like yours quite a bit (better than my own, lots of vibrant colors), but I think you are outside of the sizing parameters.....
Ned Loe Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 TBH, I like yours quite a bit (better than my own, lots of vibrant colors), but I think you are outside of the sizing parameters..... is it 600 by 826?
Grim DeGrim Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 His image info says 1,197px × 1,024px ... which makes sense, it looks much wider than the other submissions. Otherwise, beautiful.

Grim DeGrim Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Used old Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky painting from 1817 as background. Old style box art ver 1 A B I'm torn....personally, I like the dark text from "B". But am partial to the darker image in "A". In any event, I struggled with how dark to make my image. In retrospect, I felt my own might be too dark, especially around the cannons (not enough contrast??? proper terminology?). Some great work Wind.
Grim DeGrim Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Welcome aboard captain! This is great how does it look with some depth or shadow against the sign? I like it.

Some great work Wind. Thanks. Your image is nice, but it covers the whole space of the box. This makes viewers eyes lost and there is no room for text. I would make the image smaller and add more brightness to show details.
Grim DeGrim Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Great feedback. I have a wonderful shot of the Bellona, but it is landscape - so I'm limited with that particular frame to fit the box. But I have had similar thoughts on how close in. The plus, though, is that it is unique from the other submissions. . lol, unique good/bad... Just unique. The process is testing - I just got photoshop a few days earlier, so it has been daunting. Managed to put a high pass filter layer and then overlay to bring out sharpens... So much power in the application. So much to learn. 1
Ned Loe Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Ok, here is my final work with improved Font. Classic Box ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Modern Box 2
CommodoreWesley Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Grim, with my amateur GIMP skills, I have been able to remove that horizon line that is in your picture (mainly using the smudge and blur tools). If you can PM me your email, I'll send you your picture that I edited. I don't want to post it here as it would make me feel like I would be stealing your picture.
Cannonball Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Here is a little something I came up with. I'm pretty sure the scale is right. -Cannonball 6
Grim DeGrim Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 That looks awesome. Also looks a bit wide... (600 x 826?) Would be a shame if it is wrong size, as it is an excellent piece of work.
Cannonball Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I can always re-scale it if it's off. Thanks for the love you filthy wobbly legged sea turtle! -Cannonba
