I fear all These new ships will become again rare and exclusive. Nothing that could be crafted. Or if craftable you'll end up needing some limited Permits or shit like that.

nice, another 4th rate. I hope it wont be behind a Permit or DLC. but i doubt it. The Indefa is behind a Permit and the Ratt is a DLC. So i guess she will come "regular"

Question. Was she classified as a Big Frigate like the Indefa or a 4th rate?

"The Leopard was launched in 1790. As a 50 gun ship, she was already nearly obsolete, being too small to stand in the line of battle and unsuitable as a cruising ship."

In the Canon

Leopard - "the horrible old Leopard" - first appears in The Mauritius Command, where (as in real life) she takes a minor part in the campaign. Later, in Desolation Island, Jack Aubrey commands her on a voyage to Australia. By the end of the voyage in The Fortune of War she is in very poor condition having survived near shipwreck. She underwent makeshift repairs on Desolation Island but, as Aubrey puts it in The Surgeon's Mate, "the ice had given her frame such a wrench that she could not carry any piece of metal -- no good to man or beast: only fit for a transport." The ship's actual history also causes significant difficulties when negotiating with American whalers for assistance in repairing the rudder.

Later in The Letter of Marque, Stephen Maturin takes passage to Sweden aboard the Leopard, now converted to a transport. Again the voyage is eventful with a grounding necessitating the repair of the rudder. However, Maturin is recognised as an old Leopard and treated with respect for the second half of the voyage.

Wasn't there some note made in the novels about a unique design quirk? I cant remember what exactly it was but i thought it had something to do with the design of the stern and bow/keel.

I remember that she was regarded as already being outdated and slow by the time of Aubrey getting her.  Two gun decks and only 50 guns meant she was slow and not big enough to stand in line of battle either.

Wonder what stage of her life she will be in?

While it's not a bad ship, but it sits way to high and is so clumsy.  She sits like she's empty with no ballast installed so she sits way above her water line. Would love to have a refit of her though.  Something that holds  a lot of cargo and a bit extra gun/crew.
