tomsk Posted June 29, 2019 Posted June 29, 2019 Hello, what about adding a new category of ships: fishing ships? Advantages: Bigger change of getting fish on open sea. Some skill that you can use on open sea when you are not moving, that will drop fishing net into watter and collect mush faster fish, but you cannot move during that or dead slow. Disadvantages: Poor BR (guns, armor and hp). Can be easily attacked during fishing. 3
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted June 29, 2019 Posted June 29, 2019 No frigate would be a good fisher ship but a Lugger would make for good fishing vessels, as they indeed were (and still are). 1
John Parker Posted June 29, 2019 Posted June 29, 2019 (edited) Some very cool looking early 1800 - late 1700 fishing schooners. The square-topsail schooners in particular. Edited June 29, 2019 by John Parker 1
John Parker Posted June 29, 2019 Posted June 29, 2019 (edited) Sorry for double post but this link has some Nice pics plus a short description , history of some early US fishing and trade ships and yeah most were caught at some point by the British https://americanhistory.si.edu/onthewater/exhibition/1_2.html Edited June 29, 2019 by John Parker 2
Macjimm Posted June 29, 2019 Posted June 29, 2019 Would be great to have ships for improved fishing. I doubt the devs will add a ship for those of us that like fishing, but perhaps we can modify the fishing perk so that catch rate is increased at dead slow. 2
Macjimm Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 This is a great opportunity to see if any of our historians can shed some light on fishing. When I fish from a powerboat, I use a slow speed. I had thought that it would be beneficial to sail at slow speed to increase yields. Can't find much info about historical fishing with sail. Can anyone provide some info?
StaleMemes Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 I propose a an port investment option "fishing boats". Port owners would be able to purchase AI fishing boats to spawn at the port and sail/fish around it. The boats generate revenue and an occasional sealed bottle each time they returned to port after a successful trip, but can be sunk by other players to destroy them or steal their loot. 1
