Hello, I was thinking that instead of the GPS-esque sextant perk it would be more interesting to implement a small script that would mark your current position on the map if you stop the ship in the OW for 30ish seconds; maybe add a small countdown on the map screen or a loading bar somewhere in the corner, and if the ship is stopped and you open the map, that counter will count 30 seconds after which your current position will be marked on the map. And personally I would make this available to everyone without using up a perk slot :)

Cheers

Be happy we have a perk for folks to use, we had to fight to get that for the casuals and new players.  They removed all grid/map references at one time to make it hard core.  You can always close your eyes click on the map and pretend there was a delay?

Alright. It's not like it's that massive of a difference, in a game with so many hardcore elements I don't see how this in particular would bother somebody that much, newbie or not.

The sextant perk is amazing as is. Dont mess with it. Even as a vet Im going to be using it while I grind up because easily knowing your location saves time and error.

Now that I'm using the perk I really like it, but it suffers from the same thing as fleet 1 perk did in that, in no way is it some special ability to be able to find yourself on the map. Each ship of the time had a sextant and multiple people trained to use it. As a perk it does not fit. It should be a regular ability.

The use of the sextant was actually mandatory for all Officers, Midshipmen were taught by the Master to use one, and, it was an important part of the examination for Lieutenant.

The  GPS perk is a bit over kill, we should have a way to find our position with out using a perk and the trader tool triangulation imo. Sitting stil for 30 sec and then getting a marker on the map is a very good suggestion imo as standard knowledge for all.
