For new player , final exam should not  be rushed...

Why? , a new player need to learn to handle a ship before the final exam 2v1.

For that you got a rattlesnak before the final exam, to go open world and learn something in first real fight.

Don't rush it new player , take u time with the C zone to learn the game better  vs easy ia, and then make final exam.

Old player , you arleady know the game , you don't need to cry with a easy final exam for pre release player.

Its really not a good tutorial. Its a great scenario and great 'test' but its really silly to expect noobs to manage it.

This has been repeated over and over again but walls have no ears eh.

I'm even seeing players complaining on global that they cannot get past the Dismasting tutorial.  I have to say that as a tutorial, this is a Fail.

IIRC the demasting tutorial usually takes several attempts, since hitting masts with individual shots is pretty hard.

You know that the goal of an exam is for noobs to actually NOT BE ABLE to pass it, right? Exam is a test of your skills, not a tutorial.

Because the exams were difficult, I had a genuine sense of accomplishment when I completed the Endurance exam, and one of these days I’ll feel the same way about the Final exam.

These exams test your understanding of the fatal weaknesses of the lazy AI design

Granted, I don't think the exams and the final are really meant to be done in rapid succession, especially not the final.

OK, but now it just tests whether you know the same mistakes the AI always make.  Read forums, follow formula, $PROFIT$.

They efficiently test your ability to angle, strategize, demast/board/focus on weak sides. If they test anything else, it's not bad. People who passed exams are worthy to join a clan. It's a well designed test.

But all you have to do is board and exploit the AI's inability to win boarding

If you want to give your statement any credibility, show a noob who passes a final exam just by boarding. You need more than that. John Hood from this thread is a great counter-example.

For what its worth Im going to put my view.   People have been irritated by many things on release and a general feeling you didnt get much for help to test the game.  I have come to see this differently, its a different view for sure.  Being able to do the exam is a bonus to long term players! New people not being able to do the exam straight away makes sense.  How could they?  Bought the game, logged in, did the exam, now Im at 280 crew, if that was the case then we (the people who put in the game testing) would of been given less.

We were given advantages and yes its hard for a new player? Did you want an easy game? Because if you did this is not it!

In fact as time has gone on I can see we were given many small advantages.  People will always want more, its human nature.

Look at it this way, a person buys a car and they have never driven before, they then think that because they bought a car they automatically qualify for an easy driving test? Really????

This is called an elipses...  it is used for something other than ending sentences.  For that, we simply press the period key once.  Thank you and sorry for the off topic grammer nazi-ing so late after the op has left the building.

We saw a new (enemy) player in a basic cutter sailing around in our waters trying to enter any port without success. I don't know how devs could assume that a new player shall finish the final exam when there is not even a guide that is telling new player that he can't enter enemy ports in his basic cutter when he is exploring the OW.

No need to rush through the lower ranks. I´d strongly suggest for new players to stick with the small ships for a longer time, free the book slots on them.

Then people will be prepared for frigates and should do the final exam easily. By the way, it can be so much fun to sail the 7th and 6th rates effectively! :)

Best wishes, Genevieve
