If you have the time, you can make $500k pretty easily by doing cargo missions, sure it may take 4 hours to do a few $150k missions, but hey, you made 300-450k for doing nothing, which is nice. I did it on Friday, I didn't have the time "to play" i.e. do battles, but OW sailed and by the end of the weekend, I'm over $1m reals. Though finding DB was much harder, mainly because I bought some upgrades. So while I have a lot of Reals, I lack the DBs to build a forge. 10k DBs for a forge seems steep in my opinion. But as someone said, this game is a hobby and I think that's an excellent way of putting it. Within 2 months this game will be back to the normal numbers of PvP and PvE, of 200 players in PvP and 100 in PvE, because it's a hobby and not an instant gratification.

Talk to some Dutch dude named Protaenix or something like that....  he was the one claiming it.

I just did about 4 hours of boring "missions" the first night and ended up with a bit under 500k and 3000 dubs...  that was without "ginding"....   I guess it depends on what you want from the game....

Yeah, I basically sailed around Hispaniola with two TBrigs, picking up and completing cargo missions.  3-4 hours and made 700k and 4k Dubs (ish).  Killed a couple of enemies on the journey (I always have a warship).  It will get tougher when the ports are owned, but if your nation has enough of them, you can make a good circuit.

The benefit is to the clan who did the work and captured the port.

yeah, it's a lot of work capturing ports from ai, very hard work indeed. Casuals and solo's can not participate and thus get nothing, just the generic stuff ... and people expect that newcomers will stay for that? Fight against an even bigger geargap (that obviously doesn't exist) or a bigger handicap.

Again, what  is the positive about locking nationplayers out of the use their own ports? They are only good to trade in  them so they can fund the clan for free? To pay for some clans timerfees and whatnot? For the rest they can just piss off and leave the game i suppose?

Really strange that so many rvr-clans /players have so many alts? I geuss they don't use the ports and bonusses either and they don't buy up and/or harvest whatever they want? But yes, that solo or new guy can stuff it, no way he gets to get a chance to compete with the same gear, because 'the clan' did all that hard work of capturing a port ...

But yes, solo's and casuals are the parasites,  alts are to be supported (you know, because of all the hard work it is to level them, lol).

Great rant and thanks for only quoting part of what I said and even taking that out of context.  While it is easy to take a port against AI, that will not always be the case, and even so, the port has to be maintained and defended.  The owning clan must make a large investment and should profit from that.  I believe I made one suggestion and I am sure I have read others.  Additionally, I have said many times that I disagree with locking other national players out of a port.  Instead of punching out a big negative rant, why don't you make some reasonable suggestions....or if you find that no one is listening, you could, y'know...shut up.

Then why do you even want to defend it?

Reasonable suggestions? I only make them once.

How many suggestions do people/devs need? We've been giving suggestions for years now, and this 'problem' was pointed out on the first day the portboni were announced.
