Ink Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 Captains, unfortunately the server will be rolled back to the state of yesterday's maintenance due to critical error in database. More information will follow. Apologize for the inconvenience 1
Taz671 Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 Thank you for info, this will happen at maintenance today I presume? and will there be any compensations?
Murphy Myers Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 I swear there's more downtime than uptime - you'd think you'd have some failsafe procedure in place for these critical errors so close to launch.
Jan van Santen Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 (edited) The much I appreciate your prompt reactions and (possibly) redeemables, they are not even the second best answer. (best would be to give PvE server more attention and avoid these crashes) Current redeemables always aim at the average player, thus overdoing it for new players (last time eg a Christian which a new player cant even sail yet and can't sell since everybody has 1 already) And an average redeemable never makes good for what a veteran looses in 1 day. (for me eg this time 2 elite ships and an encyclopedia sold for dubs/medals and 1 elite ship kept for myself) Have you ever considered eg a rank depending redeemable ? Eg an elite note 6-7 for new players, 5-4 for intermediate rank, 1-3 for higher ranks ? Edited May 30, 2019 by Jan van Santen 6
Cetric de Cornusiac Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 I will not start with complaining about my losses of one day... Just this: It is strange server crashes continue even after fixes last week on host side were announced, and at this point I start wondering why they keep to a server host who is apparently unfit to provide sufficiently secure hosting. I mean, after alleged fixes which are still followed by new crash(es) there has to be an end to give new chances. Anything else is toxic to playerbase. Or is an uncle or the mother-in-law of some developer running the server host company? 9

I mean, we certainly don't want the server to be too unstable right when that comes, am I correct? 4

The later would be even more fatal. It is indeed very hard to understand (I would appreciate an explanation) why this happens repeatedly (iirc the 3rd rollback within weeks), on PvE server only, after patches that are supposed to fix bugs and so close to release. Zlatkowar Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 Starting to feel like we on PvE are the lab rats on which tests are run to see if same changes can be applied on PvP server x'D 4

So much for the inconvenience. Wouldn't it be nice, if , by mere chance, there was a server on which to test changes, without having people worry to play the main server and unintentionally get them the only choice to have to be redirected to the pvp server? That server exists, its called "Testbed" Hasn't seen use lately though... Not to mention that the solid parts of the feedback for its last use were neglected. Edit: and the next strange thing: Why does the status page say "update" for PvP server but "Maintenance" for PvE ? Edited May 30, 2019 by Jan van Santen
Vernon Merrill Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 (edited) Perhaps all you armchair game developers missed the part about buying an “early access” game on Steam. Its almost like they should put a disclaimer on there... oh wait. Must everyone always assume these things are so nefarious? Edited May 30, 2019 by Vernon Merrill

Perhaps you missed the point that there are enough of less chaotic Early Access games around ? Maybe because NA is the only one you ever played ? Oh wait, PvP doesn't work either atm, so maybe you start understanding.... (Says a new client version is needed, but Restarting Steam or rebooting the PC does not load one) Edited May 30, 2019 by Jan van Santen 2

It says update cause they posted the other day we where getting a hotfix to buff battle rewards and some other changes.

Oh why, are you such developer, to always jump at everyone's throat, behaving like a merry white knight in defense of someone who is totally capable on answering on his/their own without your usual classy interventions? I wonder how you will respond, losing days of, in your case, heroic ganks and the like, while then discovering you were the lab rat. Generalizing it under the Early Access is enough bs, the game is due to be released officially after 4 years or continuing tuning and back and forth on the same 2 things without proper progress with exeption of UI, game engine and localization, and a couple of overpriced DLC ships. Keep your sycophancy for the pvp server where you praise yourself so much to belong at. Edited May 30, 2019 by JoeForKyo 6
