Question

Posted (edited)

Does Hull thickness have a % cap or is it just +28? Both the ships below are definitely thickness capped, i.e. I wasted some combat metals adding navy structure with no additional effect.

The Santi has a base thickness of 74 and caps at 102 which is +37.83%

The Christian has a base thickness of 72 and caps at 100 which is +38.88%

Why would the Santi cap at a lower %? I assume the displayed amount rounds to the nearest whole number, so there could be some rounding error.

Edit: I looked at this post and it says 30%, maybe someone could explain how this is calculated?

Thickness cap should be 30% although im not sure how they count the base additive thickness like +5 from carta for instance.

Never thought about thickness cap, but it looks weird.

No. Read Ink's post again:

Caps for Upgrades:

Turning Speed - 25%

Sail HP - 30%

Armor HP - 30%

Hull thickness - 30%

Gun Reload - 30%

Gun dispersion (both horizontal and vertical) - 40%

I, too, would like to know the new stats. I think Privateer is right though, and perhaps the port bonuses are counting separately from the upgrades. Yet I think the 15.5 speed cap still works so who knows? Might need to try stacking hull HP or turn rate mods and see if the caps are still accurate for those.

It's been 30% also for a long time.  I think this has something to do with how the two main mods give flat numbers instead of percentage.   Add those to the total and than check your percentage.  Pretty much an LO/WO ship with 4 hull should be maxed out thickness if we are going off the 30% rule but we found we can add the mods too.
