mikawa Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Currently there are 2 things to notice: - Elite NPC's are very rare -- I spotted only 3 ships (2 of them were just brigs) spending 3 evenings at sea. This could be called bad luck but I think the Elite drop rate should be increased a bit. - Elite NPC ships could not be used as expected because I can't choose the wood / planking as I might wish.

All of them have all upgrades and shoot with Charge all time. It's not fair, you have to downgrade your targets. Ex: Victory vs Wapen side by side no repare -> Wapen win ... IS IT NORMAL ?! 2

They also have an insane advantage in their firing arc. They can fire at angles we can only dream of, allowing for some very weird and unpredictable results. Edited May 22, 2019 by Serk

I have deleted my account 2 weeks ago to make a new Pirate player on PVE server. I have to make XP and I can't fight 4th rate with my 4th rate, that is the problem. I have to kill small 5th rate. Angus MacDuff Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Bots should be challenging. They have advantages that may seem unfair, but they also have weaknesses that can be exploited. We now know that trading broadsides with a bot is a bad idea. If only there was another option.... 1
van der Clam Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 (edited) Does anyone know with absolute certainty what will happen with the next patch that will change the Port Bonuses? Will Port Points be changed? Will maxed out Ports be wiped completely? Will maxed out Ports be only partially wiped allowing us to choose which bonuses we want considering we already delivered all the resources? Will Port Bonus values get nerfed? Will our current ships with these Port Bonuses reflect the new nurf, if the values are nerfed? What happens to ships already built with all Port Bonuses maxed out? Will they be deleted? Will they be replaced with whatever port bonuses we chose? When will this patch happen? There are so many rumors flying around that the people need to know. Edited May 22, 2019 by van der Decken

Same ship, you have to repare 3 times... To loot updates... annoying... In case you are talking about the new elite NPC, they are clearly veteran player's 'endgame content'. You as a beginner (if you are such, or even medium advanced) should keep your hands off them and feast on regular NPC alone. Good advice.

And a friend and I just killed a Elite NPC Bellona yesterday, no big difference between regular and Elite, only 3400 doublons. I think that you don't know what you're talking about went you say ''they are clearly veteran player's 'endgame content'", that is just guess. I KNOW WHAT I AM TAKING ABOUT. Thanks for condescension.

Yesterday my first try and sinking a mercury was without any note dropping. The NPC was marked at OW with the skull and had an admirals rank inside the battle. No. On Monday we found an Elite 3rd Rate that only dropped 1400 dubs and a module (I forget which one, nothing special though).
Farrago Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 (edited) Elite Surprise dropped either Iron Knees or Diagonal Riders (I don’t remember which: it was a useless one) and 700ish doubloons. There’s two ways to approach this. Either there should be a bunch of Elites (like IMO there are now) and it stays with smaller chances of a really valuable drop. Or Fewer Elites on the water and chances go way up. Edited May 22, 2019 by Farrago 2

Guest Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 ^ thats because you have probably 20% of players that dont want to lift a finger to get to max rank with little to no effort. Im completely sure if you run a poll on it on the login screen you would see that its actually alot more players that would love this suggestion other than avoid it. We need content and sense of achievement in this game or else its just gonna be a flat and shallow game.
Guest Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 (edited) Anyway admin its not always about the end content, one famous quote is by Ralph Waldo Emerson "Its the not the destination, Its the journey" and I believe if you follow that script from you create your character to the end game RvR you would have a much better game where the retention rate is much higher Edited May 23, 2019 by Guest

They should be scaled to oak/oak builds. Unless said AI is an Elite than they should be scaled against a stronger elite build ship. Im going to bet that wasn’t some average built L’Ocean you where using. 3

Thonys Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 (edited) Hi a question in general: was there a change in books (removed or added or renamed or abanded recently) on pve and pvp server? Edited May 23, 2019 by Thonys
Guest Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 imo tp isnt the problem, you see other mmo's with options to fast travel with portals or flight paths, so i dont think thats where the issue is.

They will also survive the lose of teleport. Do tho think it will give some issues. Maybe limited it to freetowns. You must have a very selective memory. When we did not have tow or tp, pvp just ground to a complete halt because nobody who was interested in pvp wanted to spend 90% of their playing time on a shippng company simulator just to get their ships or character into a pvp hub from the other side of the map. Just no, NO to even more pointless time sinks taking away from the part of the game that's actually good! 1
