Hello all,

it is hard to believe that we will lose all our progress, yes we know that the game was an early acces that's true, even that it hurts.

From my point of view, the general wipe that will make us begin again all our wealth, ships, ports etc, it will be more comfortable if we keep the rank as a redeemable like other times.

Because we spent a lot hours to gain levels/ranks.

I would like to know your opinion Captains and mates.

Greetings,

GRM

I think that the experience should be redeemable because in the sea there were always feared sea heroes and legends, because we, the pioneers of this great game that we are of all factions, will be recognized with that prize, be those marine legends or myths.

I'm missing the third voting option 'I don't care'

The skill of veterans should rapidly be recognized, including my elite pumping refit. Vets will not be obliged to change pseudo...

And if a new 'ace' can emerge from a wipe, why  not? Anyways, new (more) ranks will be created soon, so that rank wipe is almost unavoidable.

It's up to the devs to decide, not us.

as long as I know its already decided, the wipe will wipe out everything

We should keep it because people bought and played the game specifically for the reason that the developers promised we’d keep it. You can quibble over whether it matters on release or not, I personally think it doesn’t matter a bit since we’ll all have passed the tutorial in a few hours post-release, and be light years in front of a new player anyway by that point.

But at its core, giving us earned xp back is the only ethical decision to make.

Otherwise, it would be like submitting a down payment and signing the contract on a new house that was supposed to have 4 bedrooms, and then the builder parks a trailer on your land and walks away from it and says they’re done.

In the real world that contract would protect you, but on Steam it doesn’t. Only the reputation of the developer for keeping promises is your protection.

Menuda tontería de hilo, siento decirlo, pero alguien tenía que hacerlo. Hay cosas más importantes.

I fear that if new players come to the game on release they will feel far to behind when they find out others have hundreds of hours of books and rank on them. That being said it has never been easier to get book with all the various ways you can do it. Anyway I say burn it all, wipe everything.I think the game is most enjoyable when we are fighting in the trash boats we can coble together instead of the super ships with best woods, mods, books, ect. Even though I know a full wipe release will be a massive dlc boat spam I still have fond memories of sailing out of fort royal to pvp in a traders snow.

It just doesn't matter.  When a new player comes into the game and sails out in his brand new ship, he will run into a veteran.  Even if that Vet is in a row boat, the noob is toast.  We cannot remove skill from the existing players.

You can always delete your character and start a new one :D

Stinks very much of "I really want to keep the advantage I have now over new players"

It's already going to be: Spend two hours doing the exams for rank and repairs, then instantly redeem and jump into Ratts and then start flipping ports. The first few weeks of RvR are going to be decided by which nation spent the most on DLC. Don't make it even more one sided in favour of the nation with most DLC ships.

Embrace that "new game" feeling. In fact, think of it as "New Game+) :D

Side note - The people that are complaining the most are the ones who have to do it all again for their many alts :D :D :D :D

For those of us who have been playing this game for years, we deserve not to take away the experience

and guess what i been playing just as long and i rather it be wiped we dont deserve anything on release it should all be wiped just like any game going from alpha to release NA should not be an exception. we are testers. having that significant advantage day 1 would likely turn many players away from the game new and old. all you want to do is be lazy and not do the grind urself

promises can change darling  we were promised alot of things and many didnt happen, thats the part of it being an alpha or early access game, you bought this game to have fun to blow stuff up. not because you were promised before buying it to keep your exp on release.

they shouldnt give u anything back its not about ethics either when it comes to video games u spent the money to play a game that was in early access and still in development, a wipe full and complete on release is what u should expect, no free exp or bonuses other then the dlc pandora and any other dlc u have purchased. its starting from scratch.

you purchased a game you had many months to years playing it and helping it to be developed you have already gotten what u initally wanted out of hte game you had fun you enjoyed it.  the devs reserve the right to wipe everything all assets on release.

I expect very few new buyers but rather an influx of players who bought in the past and have either been taking a long break or who never gave the game or testing much of a chance. I see no reason to level the field for these players. I’ve never bought a game and expected to be instantly equal to everyone who had been playing.

But if XP is wiped, I won’t rage quit. I’ll just soldier on.

Whichever happens, do it soon!

Honest question - Should the game be rewiped 6 months after release so those players who buy it 6 months after release can have the same XP level as the players playing the game at that time?

If you answer "no" then why are folks against players keeping their XP when new players come on board at the release.

Bottom line folks are going to buy the game as time goes on, and just like those who bought in EA, had to join a game with many folks much higher on the XP as them and we all survived.

I highly doubt there will be a high influx of new players to the game.  And it would be a big shame if we only get like 100 new players and take a player base from 450 to 550 and the 450 loose all their human time to level up.

On hand it would be fun to level up, on the other at this point I do not plan to spend many hours of my life leveling up again.

To the extent this is EA and we are "testers", this is my first EA game and am surprise to see the wipe as being part of the process.  Yes we are tester giving feedback, but games are nearly always evolving even after release with players giving feedback to the game.  So i really do not see the testing process any different that feedback and updates after release of the game.

And to add to your point, even if there is no written contract deemed to exist in the purchase of the game.   There is certain a moral point to the concept of the contract law of promissory estoppel.  When a contract and duties are deemed to exist when one makes a promise (here keep XP) and folks take action in detrimental reliance on this promise (folks spend human time to level up), a contract is created and the promised becomes a duty of that contract.

--Privateer--, they will decide but our opinion should count. That is one of the functions of a forum.

I think they already decided, as far as I know we lose all XP but keep learned books. That's good enough for me, in fact I think it's better than keeping XP.

How is keeping learned books not a disadvantage to new players?

If the theory is the make it fair for new players, books and everything should go.
