  • Clans will be able to decide who can access the facilities and build them
  • Once you build the facility you will be able to use it even if you are kicked from clan  or alliance (provided you are in the same nation).
  • Other nations WILL NOT use the facilities and investment benefits
  • Ship building bonuses are created by clan alliance only if they build ships in their city. Other captains (who are not part of the alliance are not going to be able to hire artisans trained by clans).

I am not fully understanding this:

Could someone please answer the following Qs:

I am in a clan that is NOT in the friendly clan list of the Port Owner:

1. I build a shipyard in the Port, do I receive ALL the Port Bonuses for any ships I build there? in exactly the same way as if I was in the clan itself?

2. Am I able to build 'non-natural' buildings that the Port owning clan(s) have invested in?

From the sounds of it if you are not on the friendly list you will not get a bonus. The special buildings are part of the port and the clan owning it controls them others have no control over it.

Admin did mention if you where once in the clan or clans list and invested though you would be able to still use that building.  Though I assume that was the resources but not the shipbuilding stuff.  We did test to see that none list clans can still take missions.  Which I think is wrong simply that can be abused by alt clans once the capital is taken and port left open behind lines.

Also the friends clan list really needs to be longer for bigger nations that has a lot of clans.  We hit the 20 limit pretty fast just for the port battles the other day.  Even though I'm one for small clans merging into bigger clans we are working with a small pop right now not 1K players or something.

Everyone should get the bonus if they ship build in that Port. This just puts power into the hands of a few players and if you are not in with the big boys you will sail inferior ships.

so you can easily use an alt to exploit this.  nope

I assume the thought is to limit people just using a alt to build in the port and get all the hard work of others for free.

big deal. So you want to handicap every single solo player who doesn't want to arse lick the clan leader, so as to prevent alt ship building?

and HOW anyway? Alt builds ship and then does what? sails it out to give to main? Why would anyone bother? Its not that difficult to get an alt in a big clan anyway.

Why should a solo player or alt get the perks that the other clans put together and pay for?  I'm sorry have you looked at how expensive it is to invest ports?

You shouldn't get a participation trophy just cause you don't want to play with others.  They can either help or pay for one of those ships from some one that can craft them. Which is what most solo players will prob do is pay for the ship from some one that can craft them.  So stop acting like every solo player is going to be a master ship builder too.  The only ones that do that have mulit alts to do it.

Solo player can craft anything with admiralty connection. Player can pay taxes or cost associated with using 'artisans'.  First Permit wall, then cant get woods , now upgrades nerf unless you are in big clan, its rubbish

I'm in a big clan so doesn't affect me. But don't see why other play styles are prevented unnecessarily. Some people can't play in groups for a variety of reasons. This does not attract new players. People get annoyed if they see power in the hands of a few and players who see they are being deprived of advantages or are unable to compete due to a lack of 'connections' will soon quit. This is all half-arsed and in favour of elites (again). Devs don't read Steam Reviews? I can see why.

Yes I have. Utterly unattainable fro a solo player, punishingly expensive for a small clan, peanuts to a mega clan.

There are many other possible solutions to this.

Here is one i suggested:

Problem: I understand that access to Port ship bonuses are available only to friendly clans so as to prevent alt abuse. However this is an excluding mechanic that unfairly punishes players who for whatever reason do not want or can't play within large groups or can only play solo. It also places too much power in the hands of a few players which will cause problems. This kind of exclusivity and cliqueness is not attractive for new players. This should not be underestimated.

Solution:

Make Port ship bonuses apply only to the captains of that nation. Eg. The Port ship bonuses of a ship constructed in a British Port is only applied when sailed by a British Captain.

This would immediately solve the alt exploit problem so solo players and small clans can benefit from Port bonuses.

I'm not 100% certain but I suspect there is some historical precedent for this. Different Navy's would certainly have had different equipment, training and methods and captured ships would have been refitted before being put back into service? (perhaps more knowledgeable captains can elaborate more on this for me?).

This could also lead to a 'refitting' service, where captured ships could be taken to a Port and refitted with the nation's Port ship bonuses applied (for a charge that goes to the Port owning clan).
