Sir. Cunningham Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 The next step for Naval Action First of all I'd like to point out that yes, this is very early to be talking about a successor or add-on, however considering how well and amazingly fast NA is progressing - not to mention the incredible Bismarck teaser model curtesy of the devs not so long ago - I think it would be fun to discuss the matter. Now assuming that Naval Action becomes a huge success, which I'm pretty confident it will be, I can see the title encompass more than just the age of sail. Question is what time period do they ought to take on next? To me the natural choice would be to travel forward to World War 1, the time of the super dreadnaughts and largest naval battle in history: The Battle of Jutland. I can already imagine the thunder of 15 inch guns through my loudspeakers rattle the house ^^
Illusive Tabby Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 I find the similarities between this idea and the "War Thunder 2" idea to be...similar. Not saying it's a bad idea as here is my money, give me game, but yea. I would be into it.
Flip Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 I'd say don't count your chickens before they hatch. Even after reading your first line .
mouse of war Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Naval warfare without the sailing? Dull 1
Sir. Cunningham Posted January 16, 2015 Author Posted January 16, 2015 I like WWI as a setting a lot, but not too enthusiastic about WWII. The ranges were so extreme, that it would probably be hard to make the game interesting without making it too arcadey. I agree, WW1 seems more fitting considering that radar doesn't play a role here. Not saying I wouldn't enjoy a WW2 Naval Action either though, I'm sure it would be excellent
SirSamuelHood Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 I think WWI is such an underdone subject (Look at all of the WWII or Napoleonic games out there compared to those set in the Great War). A dreadnought-themed game by these developers a few years from now would most likely be as massive a success as NA looks like it will be. 1
BrutishVulgarian Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 I think if you read the Bismark thread, I'll try to find it, the devs mention a single player game with the Bismark running a gauntlet from Norway to somewhere. 1

BrutishVulgarian Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/734-user-feedback-ship/?hl=bismarck#entry27084 That's the thread. I got the direction wrong, though. Our tech would be more than capable. We are planning to make a single player short game called Bismarck journey some day, where the player will have to get to France from Norway. We already have beautiful north sea storms covered I sure wish I had logged on that day.
Sir. Cunningham Posted January 17, 2015 Author Posted January 17, 2015 Yeah I remember it, and man oh man do I hope that day comes soon! The World needs a fantastic & realistic WW1 & WW2 battleship game! I'm sure Game Labs can deliver that, and I'll gladly pay 80+ dollars for it! (Same price as most console games these days) Game Labs, did you hear that??!
Chustler Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Let's just get this one as great as it can be. We are still talking YEARS here.. 2
Sir. Cunningham Posted January 19, 2015 Author Posted January 19, 2015 Let's just get this one as great as it can be. We are still talking YEARS here.. I think that goes without saying, but damnit we are allowed to talk about it, aren't we?
Chromey Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 i think next step for naval action we'd like to add team battles to the lobby so if clans wanted to try out tougher battles they had a chance to use a server battle and have more fun with the game. I think it would be a simple and very gracious gesture to the community. Also a way to train with different scenarios of ship encounters.
Handuer Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 It would be quite awesome to have WW1 battleships to fight in, maybe even a first rates vs Bismark mode, where there are a number of first rates against one bismark, of course just fun.
mouse of war Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Greek classical galley warfare - ramming, catapults, etc.

I think it would be rather disturbing standing on your first rate watching gigantic collumns of water burst up and tower over your ship on all sides for no apparent reason, as the the Bismarck sits back at 30+ km lobbing 800 kg shells at you with deadly accuracy ^^
Mass Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 In the test ))) What is this? have u made these?
Brigand Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 What is this? have u made these? These ships have been in alpha testing as an April fools joke. Don't worry, we sank them. ~Brigand
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Having been a derp addict of Fighting Steel I approve of such a endeavor in a future project.
