William Death Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 I'd rather my enemy be silly and sit on my stern with grape than be efficiently going for hull, masts, etc. Unless fighting multiple enemies where they can pit and board, I've never had a problem with grapeshot. Its very very easy to deny being boarded by a solo enemy if you know what you're doing. Also, lets assume you are being graped....what are you doing while your enemy is graping you? Sitting there being a victim of it? Or fighting back and ripping down his masts, hull, etc. The new damage model made it easier now more than ever to deal with people sterncamping/graping you. If you still have problems losing crew to grape then maybe sail a bit better. If I had a dollar for every duel or PB that ended with me/my side victorious and my first rate having 300-500 crew....I'd have like....a small stack of dollar bills . Seriously, crew is the least of my worries in a fight. I can mostly avoid being boarded by doing some maneuvering. What I can't do, is fight with most of my armor missing or my masts falling left and right. Now BALL shot taking crew, is another story. That needs to be toned down a lot. I go into battles with my first rate and I can watch the crew number drop every time a cannonball hits me. Its like using rum, but in reverse lol. OH THE PIXEL HUMANITY!
Aster Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 I love when a small ship shoots a broadside that bounces harmlessly but a handful of guys still die. Like are my sailors hanging off the side of the ship in combat? 1

I mean, I tell the lads its ok if they duck and cover for a quick second while the cannonballs are heading right for them, but they insist its not honorable service.
Horatio 15 Posted May 13, 2019 Posted May 13, 2019 Lately, I've been playing the PVE server. I do find the change to a level 2 ship building yard at 1,000,000,000 reals is prohibitive of players such as myself. This would take forever to achieve. Guess the devs have decided that anyone who desires to build ships beyond the 1st level will have to stay there for the duration of their playing the game. Would like to see that number come back to reality for at least the next two ship yard levels????? 1

I mean it make sense when you see a total blank side full of cannon holes indicate that that side is hurt? Same as crew, where are the infrared radars that shows where my crew is hiding and what not?

That is why they bitch when we bring up things that would be more clan/group related but bring content (like Port Battles against AI/buetral ports that get reset every couple months). So Devs being awfull silent again? Does that mean a hotfix soon or maybe even another patch? Would be nice to know what's up cause a wipe/release #soon can mean a few weeks or a few months and some of us would like to just hurry and get to it.

I do still think its pretty expensive for building...and the tool requirement for wood farms is a killer!
Angus MacDuff Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 I know asked this before, but I feel like I want to nag....Can we please have the ability to update (refit) older ships to the level of the port bonuses. This isn't just a short term thing for those of us who have a barn full of unmodded ships. When we are steady state after release, this issue will continue to crop up. We will build ships early and after we start making port investments, these ships will be obsolete. Real life ships get upgraded all the time, because it is cheaper and less time consuming than new build (Look at HMS Victory). It should be part of the game as well. 2
