Permits will be updated next patch. Do not spend marks or VMs on permits meanwhile.

The following changes will be applied

  • Only 10 ships will remain rare (we want them to be rare and precious), some performance stats for those vessels will be improved (especially rattles, niagara and constitution)
    • Santisima
    • Christian
    • Bellona
    • Constitution
    • Endymion
    • Renommee
    • Rattlesnake
    • Rattlesnake heavy
    • Niagara
  • All other vessels will lose permit requirements and will be crafteable
  • Rare permits will be added to Gold and Silver chests so you can have a chance to earn them in PVE activities.
  • PvP Admiral chest and Captain chest will have a 100% drop chance for one of the rare permits
    • Admiral chest: line ships + 4th rates
    • Captain chest: lightships frigates + 4th rates
  • In addition to that (long overdue) the following ship notes will be added to the admiralty for combat medals for captains who wish to get those ships by in game means. (Prices are not final and might get adapted).
    • Rattvisan - 300 cm
    • L'Hermione - 200 cm
    • Hercules - 150 cm
    • Le Requin - 150 cm

It's responses like these that I enjoy. This is a good change.

But i have a new question....what do victory marks do now?

Thanks for the update! This list is fine, except that I absolutely do not think that the Niagara, Renommee or Indefatigable should be on the it. Niagara and Indefatigable because they are excellent entry-level RvR-ships, and Niagara is a must-have counter to DLC-ships. And Renommee is such a great allround frigate for beginning players to learn the mechanics by playing.

What about Lineships? Will this remove the Victory Marks as a currency completely? Or will Victory Marks become a part of the recipe for lineships directly (removing doubloons in the recipe hopefully)? Victory Marks requirement for Lineships Permits is a good thing. But there should be an alternative to buy the permits with Combat Medals, and the prices need to be reverted back to around 1-2 Victory Marks per permit.

Great news. But I hope that the Combat Medals currency will be completely revamped to make it into a PvP-only currency again, and that both prices and rewards in Combat Medals will be lowered exponentially compared to now.

A very welcome update. Thank you.

Any chance we could get Rattvisan/Hermione/Hercules/Requin permits instead of notes? This would allow craftable versions with a chance to get a purple / gold one.

Redeeming notes gives a chance at purple/gold.

@admin THANK YOU! Now i dont have any problems if you add DLC ships, if they are available to get somehow ingame without spending real currency its good and it doesent really matter that they have the option to choose from whatever woods you want :) my only concern is L'ocean and Victory without permit? How are you planning to play around the first rate spam? people would save their woods to craft a 1st rate instead of a 3rd rate or bucentaure

can we craft Ocean and Victory without permit now? also bucentaure??   again 1rates spam in server?

you were working good, don't be afraid of coplaining of players that can't build 1rates easy as before please.

@admin will a HPnerf for 5th rates come in this patch?

Is this list only for rng permits ? Or will those be availlable from admiralty too?

No more CM or VM required for Ocean ? Victory ? Bucc ? Pavel ?

Where are the Santa Cecilia and the Diana ?

So you make the rattlesnake (already quite useless right now) even more difficult to get than now !!  Why ? The rattle heavy i can understand, but the real one...

I'm sad for the Niagara too, only her 32pd deck make her ok, at least let ai sails some so we can cap some crew space version, it was one of my favorite ship... and my paints for it are useless now.

As planned it's the Surprise & Trinco that gets a free pass..  but do making them more available  than rattlesnake & niag make  sense ?

And what about rare woods? If DLCs are limited to common woods for choices I have no problem with current state of things, but as it stands the DLC are too powerful within their effect on the economy. It isn’t just that people CAN choose to step out of the shipbuilding economy, it’s that the DLC option is BETTER than what most people can build with woods this rare

L'ocean, victory, Bucc, Pavel, 3rd Rate, maybe Wasa would all cost VM's

That what you got Victory Marks for, to buy those permits for SOL's that aren't on the other list.  I'm sure they still are hard to make as I remember it was something like what 5 VM's for a 3rd , 10 for a Pavel. or 15 for a Victory,.  50 CM for a L'ocean, etc.....where has it said any of that changed?  Permits for SOL are prob going to be the same.  So there won't be any 1st rate spams.

I don't understand making 6th rate ships rare,  but  overall a welcome change :) .

I can live with the 6th rates, oh and good job allowing 1 shot DLC hits via CM's :) .

I'm also wondering about this and I'd like to suggest that the Diana replace the Hercules as the reward for the final exam.  I believe the intent was for the reward to be a rare ship, but being both a DLC and a meta ship, the herc is not rare.  The Diana would be a perfect fit as long as there will be no other way to get it.

As someone who nearly exclusively does PVP and nearly exclusively sails a Christian, this is a tall order. There will be 5 possible permits from the Admiralty Chest, assuming equal distribution there's a 1/5 chance for each. That still requires me to sink up to 50 admiralty-level ships in pvp just to replace my ship if it sinks (not to mention the rare woods). That pretty much forces me to look for easy wins, what some would call seal clubbing.

It would be even worse if the distribution was weighted towards the lower tier ships like indef and Connie.  The devs would have a estimated number of admiralty missions they expect someone to complete in order to get the Christian permit, and it wouldn't be hard to figure out the average number of combat metals earned while completing these missions, so why not just add the permit to the admiralty store for that number of combat metals?

If the devs are insistent on doing RNG permits, I'd like to see more chests. Maybe a mid-level chest, call it an Officers Chest.

Captain's Chest

  • Renommee
  • Rattlesnake
  • Rattlesnake heavy
  • Niagara

Mid-Level (Officer's Chest)

  • Constitution
  • Indefatigable
  • Endymion

Admiralty Chest

  • Santisima
  • Christian
  • Bellona

This way it's still RNG, but we have a way higher chance of actually getting the permit we want.

Great Admin. Now we only have the wood-problem left.

But i agree with Privateer. Make the rare ships rater because they COST more, not because you have to find permits in chests. It is ok if you can get them via chest too, but we should be able to buy them.

I can dig it.  Though not sure about that Niagra or Indef exclusivity....seems unnecessary given the impact DLC ships will and currently have on shallow PBs.

A Niagara still has a lot of uses with a carronade build in shallows. Indefatigable I kind of agree. Although does not bother me much either way.
