LeopoldRNN Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 Any and every session I play, the first battle I engage in always results in a very long load delay where by the time I see my ship and begin giving orders the pre-start 30 seconds have passed as well as 30 seconds or so into the battle time. Other ships are already shooting and moving before I even load/see the battle instance. After this first time, any and all subsequent battles load normally for the session as long as I don't quit NA. If I completely quit NA and start it up again, the first battle I go in to will again have this awful slow load delay. Please help! Anolytic Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 (edited) This is a common issue. For the first battle all information about the battle instance needs to be loaded, but for subsequent battles a lot of information can be loaded from cache. I know several players with slow computers/slow hard drives (or who always play multiple accounts simultaneously) who will start they game sessions always by attacking an AI cutter fleet just so they can load the battle instance once before going out looking for PvP. I recommend upgrading to an SSD. Edited April 9, 2019 by Anolytic 3
van der Clam Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 Ever since playing this game the very first time entering OW and the very first time entering battle is quite a long load. I barely have 7-10 seconds to give the first orders. However, all loads after this is quick. I've just grown to accept it and always make certain my first battle is some cheap AI in a safe port, so this doesn't happen during a crucial battle.
balticsailor Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 Yes it has always been that way for me as well as long as i can remember (i do play since sea trails).
LeopoldRNN Posted April 9, 2019 Author Posted April 9, 2019 (edited) So system requirements for this game need to now say 'SSD required' ? Edit: I appreciate the sincerity of the advice (I have been planning to get a SSD for long time now...it will happen :), but with this not being isolated to just me or a few other players, but actually may be a wide spread problem, isn't it imperative that GL (the devs) fix this before full release? RAMDisk is a program that takes a portion of your system memory and uses it as a disk drive. 4Gb is enough for NA. I use program ImDisk for this purpose. Edited April 9, 2019 by qw569
Lucky Jack Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 Definitely not a game bug, mine always loads great. SSD, RAM, vid card all play into it. Agree that the SSD is the best upgrade for instant results.
