Veteran Server

Have you ever thought of making a server for veteran players?

Regarding WOW there are several add ons which let players level up further.

You could let veterans join another server maybe with slightly different setting (and better AI, better rewards, better loot) where players can level up further (e.g. Apprenticeman Admiral, Journeyman Admiral, Expert Admiral ...). So if reached highest Level Players could switch to the "pro" server and take all their belongings with them.

1.) Veteran Players can join this server at release. Maybe let buy DLC for Access.

2.) New Players join the regular server first. They can play and level up in full freedom without having expert veteran players on their side. They have a great motivation of leveling up to be able to switch to pro server.

Nobody needs to lose neither the thousands of hours they spent in game nor the knowledge grinded. No ganking of newbies by veterans.

The idea is to provide more content beginning from the state all testers are in while letting the newbies begin from scratch on new server. Newbie server is more easy.

Wont work. Old players will make new accounts to go gank the new players. This happened when the devs made the rookie zone in the bahamas.

This idea wouldn't work in practice I feel just due to the populations of the servers as they currently are. Vets go where the pew pew is, and that's generally where there's more people and most people tend to be not so good at pew pew so...

This is pure speculation. There will be new players and some old will return too. And the gap between actual players playing since three years and the new ones will be huge. They will quit because they feel betrayed. Veteran players will quit because they have to start from scratch.

We will have more players if veterans can keep their state of game without wipe and new ones can play on own server. The Newbie server should be made easier to lvl up.

Why should they gank new players if they have no advantage of it? They get loot only on the server they are playing momentarily so why should they collect gank players on a server where they have to start from scratch? Nobody wants this.

Are you really being serious here ? I am really asking , not trolling or being rude at all ? Do you not understand how the player base can be ?

If you don't already know the correct term for a player who creates a brand new account to smurf other players

It happens on chess servers and every other game I have played

 

The idea just wouldn't work. Players have already expressed the desire to decimate any new players who arrive at release , here on the forums. Sad but true

 

Release the game, see if people play it. It's not worth the devs time and money sinking more effort into it if new players don't arrive

vets have paid already and unless cannonballs dlc arrives , there are many who are unlikely to sink more cash into the game as it stands. I am however, hopeful of a good start... if they release it and stop messing about with AI battles , gank zone and other lobby mechanics to pander to the ADHD brigade

My opinion .... don't split servers to make population still lower.

Why not try a bonus system ...  honorate it with better rewards if veteran players sail with new players in one battle group? ...  in PVE or PVP

ok ... there will be alt accs and smurf players issues ... but will not be worse than now

Why not generate content with trading convoy mission? This could generate PVP action.

Why not have events sometimes? ... one in a month .... not every day.

Wrong. That is not the purpose of PvE peace server.

You can never prevent this totally.

Main concern of OP is to let veteran players continue without wipe. Newbies can join vet server after reaching admiral.

As to PvE:

Afaik we get veteran ai soon. 

Veteran ai for veteran players. Problem solved.

And for mods, woods and so on….that's not magic... we worked hard to get them, .no pain no gain !

Assuming we had the playerbase for this. It would be so much easier to go to the noob server and farm. Competitive gaming is not rewarding and seal clubbing is.

In my opinion no veteran player would farm on newbie server, if settings are correct.

Veteran server gives content for Admrial+ players in form of better rewards, better upgrades, better loot -- but is harder.

Newbie server has much lower requirements so players have only standard upgrades. You cannot transfer things between servers, so why should vets play on newbie? I think if players begin getting nice loot on vets server no one would occupy himself with newbie server except newbies who use it for getting admiral status.
