The reinforcement zones as they were was something I never liked. But there is a way to keep the zones, protect the noobs and create more opportunities for PVP  while keeping a reformed version of the reinforcementzones. I.e. a way to make all players and the Devs (!) happy.

If someone is attacked in the territorial waters it should be possible to call for help from other REAL PLAYERS in the nation. A call is sent out via the nationchat as a mini-mission. If you are close by you can press "take that mission" and then you get a detailed map of where the battle takes place (if you are so close that you can join it). Anyone that manages to join the battle to help that person that is attacked gets a reward, regardless if you manage to hit anything or not (doubloons and reals). If you manage to make damage you get a PVP mark. You get the final kill = one more PVP mark.

That would encourage PVP, and encourage players to protect the noobs. And the gankers would feel that they are encouraged to gank noobs (!), and attack all even in enemy waters.

The frightened noobs, the evil gankers 😉 , the hardcore PVP-players, the PVE-crowd that wants protection,  those that liked the old reinforcementzones,  and the Devs, all should be happy with this proposal.

If the fight is equal, there is no need for the atacked to call for help. If it is not equal it will still take some time before the allies can show up and help the ganked player. And ONLY players if the same nation, and players that have answered the call should be able to join the fight.

The war server is dangerous.  Teamwork can be helpful ... sometimes.

I sailed out of port the other day with a trade ships, laden with goods and was attacked by 3 skilled players.  Five captains (Snow, Buc, Belona, Frigate , & Aggie) from my nation came into the battle to help.  I was not in the reinforcement zone.     Two other captains escorted me, on exit out of the battle, back to KPR.   I lost one of my fleet ships, her entire crew and all of the cargo.  I received a few thousand reals in insurance, but lost hundreds of thousands of reals.  It was intense.   Of all of the players  that came to help inside the battle only one escaped.  All of the raiders escaped.  I am humbled and thankful for the support.  One of the players who lost his ship, defending me,  GAVE me a trade ship for free, to replace the one I lost.  Reinforcements would have been useless in that battle.

I lost a trade ship last year when I was jumped by two Requins, the reinforcements tried to help, I tried to stay near them.  I was helped by 8 friendly captains.  I still lost my ship.  The reinforcements did not seem to help.

Battle stays open 20 minutes for the weaker side now. Problem is not that players have no chance to call for help. Problem is that other players refuse to help, because they fear for their ships. This cannot be changed by any game mechanic in the world.

Its called DLC ship

I know. That is why we need to make it more like a mission. You get PVP marks and reals and doubloons. You can even make it so that you have 5% chance to get a precious chest if you help out, or something. The people would help out.

Unless you're talking about teleporting players directly from port into a battle instance there's no chance anyone will arrive in time to "help".  Battles are over in just a few minutes.  Then you're just left with the current unrewarding experience of chasing "raiders" around for an hour or more, which is usually a huge waste of time for everyone involved.

I'm quite happy after removement of zones you can do some harbor fishing again, while waiting for NPC or PC targets .... If you call for help you can do it always via Nation Chat, if you are already in battle you can free your mouse by pressing ctrl and can get access to nation chat too. Problem is that often there are no players online or nearby or willing to give help.

You can call for help in nation chat.

Reinforcement zones never worked as intended, and most new players never understood their purpose. And mostly, reading the nation chats, they were wrongly presented as a place where you are "safe".

No need for another one, or any kind of similar feature.

Sure it can.  Make ships cheaper and less time consuming to lose.

Agree 100%. And then, there is no need for "safe" or "semisafe" zones or any kind of such fake features.

ships cheaper and remove most of the permits and people will risk their boats more. And nobody will miss the reinforcement zones. To think that making boats with the permits very expensive increases the number of PvP players is deceiving.

Safe zones were never the problem.  Their implementation, horrible ROE and lack of features compelling the zones have always been the issue.  They were a half assed feature and failed because of that reason.  Semi safe was bullshit. We needed 100% or none.  Now we have none at a time where ships are outrageously expensive to craft. It’s like the 2 worst things you could possible do to ruin war server
