I have kept telling everyone that XP will be preserved. I based that on 23333244422266765 posts by the admin that xp will be safe ;)

But now i stumbled upon a discussion where @admin on Feb 27 wrote that all xp will be wiped. And motivated that with a variety of arguments. (Including one about asbestos)

So apparently i was wrong.

So i wonder what the current official status is on the xp question.

I saw one post where the dev said that all will start equally and that this somehow was standard procedure in games that are released.

Well first of all. I am not against it. Resetting all is a common feature in Ea-games. Most games of this type that are based on xp is reset before release. If not all. I have been through that MANY times. BUT...

1. The testers have played shorter time than in this game, not 3 years. Many games that have had longer testing periods lets you keep more, including xp. And 2. They almost always lets you get an amount of free xp, a premiumvehicle, flags, boosts (or similar) that will make it easier for you to move ahead faster than the new players.

We get the pandora. But it has to be crewed at a certain rank.

I see positive things with a wipe, and negative things. But there has to be a clear plan from admins about how to go about.

So what is the current status on this?

Rank xp will be wiped and according to admin, we get to keep learned books and will get the Pandora DLC for free for testing. Keep in mind the same promise about books was made for xp too for years, so I'd hold off until release.

3 years

Yeah, for this long testing period I expected a bit more myself aswell to be honest ( like a paint or flag at least ). Not even sure I will get the Yacht, which I would be very happy with... but at least I will most likely be able to buy it as DLC.

Well books... Ok, i dont have any of the OP books. I played a lot a year ago for 2 months and was not even close to the most valuable books.

But ok. It is a good reward.

The Wipe is need once the new Players arrive at release

What 'new' players? Everyone who wanted to buy this game already has. A more poignant question ought to be:

How will devs finance the game in the long run? - Even if we thought that a niche game like NA hadn't already gobbled up all the prospective buyers, then with the Steam reviews it most likely won't get a whole lot of new player influx. So - how will it be financed? I don't believe this game will survive a subscription fee simply because of the plethora of games out there that is f2p, so where will the maintenance fees come from?

how do know taht, many players dont know about this game. Maybe DLC Ships (Well Balanced one) Coud be a away to substain the game.

Dont discount the capabilities of a monthly subscription for being able to support a game.

There is also the possibility that upon release some of the existing players may purchase some additional account for use in either crafting or storage.

Monthly subscriptions may give a moderate amount of rare goods or items as incentive to maintain the subscription. (LOTRO for instance gives 500 coins each month to those that pay for a subscription which is about the cost it would be to buy them outright so neither side is losing on the deal).

There is also the possibility that some form of store currency might be created and like LOTRO there could be purchasable minor cosmetic items or boosts that could be purchased.

I have been part of many games that started off as subscription then converted to f2p (with people voicing concerns that the games would die due to the decrease in revenue) and still survive and even grow quite a bit by the use of a store and it selling minor items.

I believe there is a suggestion area in the forum, take a peek at it sometime or if the possibility of a store and being able to purchase minor items (like paints) is something that would interest you, post it or start a poll...cant hurt to ask.

It is a mistake, because they do not take the game to the market and once seen if there are hundreds or thousands of new players then the wipe of rank is made?. Do it before you risk that if these new players do not come, and we follow the same but midshipmen, there will be a monumental anger that could have been avoided, no?

Guys, you do not understand the economic reason for this move:

If xp will be not wiped, then new players will complain about the old ones being already to op --> negative feedback -->  game dont sell much more

If xp will be wiped --> game will be sold much often

So you want a P2W game?

They lied for 3 years about xp and rank, we've been manipulated to keep playing and testing their game.

They sold us valuable DLC ships and then they turned them into crap with an update. Yeah, yeah, it's early access bla bla bla...

And now we'll get a Pandora that may be turned into shit in a few weeks, and finally no garantee that there won't be others wipes after release.

People keep thinking that there will be tons of new players in this niche game, visible on steam for 3 years and with negative reviews....that's just fantaisy....and old bored players will leave too.

We are just idiots and have to deal with it.
