So

To get 10 PvP Medals you can either:

 go to 2 patrols and get 20k damage against AI at each (my dog could do that)

or:

Sink 10 5th rates, with actual players in them? (that might take weeks or even months for a casual player)

That doesn't seem balanced to me. I want to play in an Openworld mmo, that's why I don't like Legends and why I don't want to go to PZ's

Why do you keep trying to force people to go to them?

I thought the PVP medals in patrol were for solo patrol only and against players only (but that could be my mistake).  I went to the Shallow SP the other night and sunk one player.  It gave me 2 medals.  I am still working on my PVP mission after 3 days and am at 7/10.  I agree that is unbalanced.  There is also a missio0n chest for me when I complete the mission <_<.  A nice balance would be that since you can get two medals in the SP for sinking one ship, that you get 20 medals in the mission for sinking 10 ships.  And a better chest.  Sinking 10 players is an accomplishment.

I agree entirely but some people seem to like them. I just don't want to be forced to go cos its so much easier to collect medals.

Is Patrol damage only counting against players now?

There is a zone within the zone.  The Solo PVP zone (interior) is for Players of the same class only (I believe).  The outer circle, is the old Patrol zone which counts damage to AI or Players.

I think it must be this but it doesn't say so in the in-game description. But like you say, still unbalanced.

Well that's ridiculous then. So essentially you get PvP Medals much much easier by going to PZ and not actually PvPing? Genius

And the rewards go up fast in the SP.  Someone should check me on this, but I think you get 6 medals for 3 kills, etc

For all those people that want bite-sized, instant, fair-and-balanced PvP then give it to them using Duel Rooms, Small and Large Battle rooms, etc.  Don't force them to do something they don't want, right @jodgi?

They still have to engage in the OW economy to get their dock queen ships, mods, and books, etc. But having some silly arena mode within an OW sandbox game that at best exposes those people gameplay they don't want, and at worst requires they participate in it just to get the rewards (Combat Medals in this case) to continue playing the PvP game they want is just poor design.

It could be good.  Having to pass through the outer ring is bad for sure.  And the rewards are unbalanced, with very few other options to get them elsewhere.  I have to say though, that it was very pleasant to be in a fight with an equal rated ship (don't get me started on Le req) and knowledge that I wouldn't be ganked.

the damage done within the 1v1 zone counts as well. So if you get 3 combat medals for 5k damage and 1 for getting 1 "score" (kill?) you'd get 4 combat medals.

Not that I agree with the rewards at the moment, I thought Doubloons were just fine.

Wait, you get medals for damage as well as kills??  That's even worse than I thought.

I don't mind that so much, you are having to win a duel against another player in an equally rated ship, that deserves reward. But getting medals for spraying shot around in a throwaway ship and then sinking or even worse just sinking AI!  that's just daft

Combat Medals I thought were for ONLY PvP kills. It is how it should be. I personally suggest to make the PvP Missions to reward 10 CMs for each kill (edit: "AND not restrict us to find other captains in specific rates, this could take months"), but multiply it by the rate differential of ships killed.

10 per kill makes it an easy modifier. Then just change the CM cost of Admiralty items that they can buy. This will make a reasonable value of CMs. However, I also believe that the Admiralty Ship Notes should be purchasable with CMs OR doubloons. Making these notes available to only PvPers makes the balance uneven, imo.
