I wonder if this is also an ill advised attempt to satisfy the elitists' "only true pvpers should get the best stuff" demands.

^^ I think it's not just an attempt, but a clear policy.

The medal system I could get on board with if all PvP kills counted, not just through the mission or in the zone.

In another topic they say they don't want universal PvP marks because it leads to farming of noobs and people in weak ships.

Players just don't like to be pushed to do certain things in an open world scenario

Indeed, just like I don't like having to deal with any eco in order to make it in this "open" world.

All I want to do is PvP. I don't mind if you want to bully bots, trade, explore, haul, craft or completely avoid PvP.

But what happens when I ask to be excused from eco? I can't have an admiralty financed career path because it would break eco. I can't have more and bigger DLCs because it breaks eco. I can't have free or cheap universal repairs because of eco.

The fact that PvP is valued with an exclusive currency is my shot at making it here. Excuse me from eco and I'll help you delete combat medals.

It's tragic to see my post from summer 2017 still largely relevant, with design decisions still ignoring the core principle outlined by this thread.

Comeback Mechanics are crucial for RvR / PvP games, otherwise no one will play.
