Sento de Benimaclet Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 (edited) I was remembering old times with the Age of Pirates II and I came up with the following. Why not limit the food, gunpowder and ammunition in each ship? And why not use the forge to make cannonballs, shrapnel and chains and the workshop to make gunpowder with salt and coal ?. Now salt would be more important in the game. Not only would we be self-sufficient but we could sell the surplus in stores. The powder, ammunition and food would occupy a place in the ship‘s hold as is logical. If you do not have enough powder after a fight you would have to return to your place of manufacture or buy (if any) in a friendly port, open to all or neutral. These sales would also help improve the economy. And the thing would be more exciting in the fighting, now you would have to ensure a lot more shot at risk of running out of ammunition or gunpowder. Slim McSauce Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 It wouldn't work, you only get 5 buildings which means you can only fight out of 1 port, thanks to outpost limits it starts from capital, a few freeports and you're left with just a couple of spots left you can base from, which will constantly get deleted as the map changes so any sort of manufacturing is lost. Besides it's just one of those things you have to start and ride with, there was once a time this could be done but the more you hand to the players the less you can take back.
Archaos Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 Although I agree with making the economy more involved, I think there is already enough opposition to the scarcity of repairs which have to be crafted let alone having to look for crafted ammunition.
