ExLeo Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 Hi, Ive been watching this game for a while now and just purchased it since it came on sale. I was a huge fan of Pirates of the Burning Sea back when it released and before it was made unrealistic. This game looks amazing and accurate, not a childrens game. Was just wondering a few things since I hadnt found it here in the forums yet. Do players build the ships themselves or in groups? (example: Does it take a group of people months to build a SoL?) Also I saw several posts about port battles becoming rarer, is there an active community still or is the game played by just a few small groups? Thanks! Lookin forward to getting home from work and trying it out!
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 Still in Early Access and under development. It has ups and downs and enough space to accommodate everyone and their preferred careers in the age of sail. Trader, navy officer, sea rover, and so on. It doesn't take months to build a ship of the line. A group of a half a dozen friends can build one fairly fast, less than a week, if they play a couple hours per day and dedicate the time focused to do it. Welcome and have fun. Do not let the salty fellows bite, Game is great fun. 3

If you played POTBS, this game is definetly gonna fill the gap for you, almost all the mechanics, econs, trading, shipcrafting and open world/battles are similar to POTBS. There are two different servers that you'll find in Naval Action, PVE and PVP. If you're more of a PVE player, then you know what server you must go to, but if you like PVP, Port Battles in huge fleets, econ & trading with other players, PVP it is (even tho PVE also have econ/trading with other players, it just doesn't include the pvp aspect to it). Right now PVP server has more players than PVE, but overall both servers have players playing 24/7. Don't be shy, you'll enjoy the game (it's freaking grindy, let me tell you). Celtiberofrog Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Hey ExLeo, It's an amazing game that is far above the hudge rest of market games, you better love this Age of Sails era as well as being a fan of ressources management, as this theater is rather close to realism historical context and glory/prosperity can be reached on long run. If you want to learn peacfully you better start with the "Peace server", then join "War server" when you feel kind of more confident with your sailing practice. Otherwise, if you like team up with peeps, you can directly join "War server" and try to get friendly with some players of your Faction (most are grouped in TeamSpeak or Discord channels), there you will receive lots of good advices and help from your Faction fellows. So first job, start writting in "nation or Global chat", there you'll get some player feedback how to join their talk channel (you need headpphone/micro device). Good luck & fair wind !! 1
