Also port UI is still GPU hungry, request graphics option to lock FPS to may be 15/30, just like the options in OW or Battle instant. My fans go %100 in port ui, it is not like that in battle instance. @admin can you give us this fps lock for port screen ? until 2d port screen etc. It seemed pretty accurate for the path I just took above with it. While not a dot, it's that white ship on top of marsh as I was sitting in the harbour in front of the port when I took that screen shot.

As you can see I'm sitting right out side Marsh Harbor........I still think putting the lat/long back on the map as grids and giving some one the Lag/Long is better, cause that was actually what folks had to do back then would read a map. I get this can be for new players but I honestly would jsut prefer the cords be on top and we have grids on map. Travelling, can't test right now. If there is a dot on the map, that shows the position of our ship, please give us the option to turn it off. Without co-ordinates, and showing our position on the map, it is simply GPS. There will be no navigation, unless players do not use the in-game map at all. Please give us an option to have a sextant that shows co-ordinates as a reference number , not as a dot. 1

This is just a matter of presentation : a ship or your finger tip on the screen. Edited December 17, 2018 by LeBoiteux 3

Even 24-gun ships could draw up to 16 feet in British service, rarely drawing less than 14. Pandora likewise. Remember that Winfield's book gives draft as launched, without stores and guns, etc. In-game models can also be inaccurate or float too high.

We tested dynamic shallows in legends and they did not work and used too much performance for 50 ships which means they will crash servers for 500+ players. Currently we need to breath new life into light corvettes and letting them into shallows (as lineships of the bahamas) will make them popular and used again. So simple 4 -4.5 meters cut off will be used for the bahamas 7

I would really like to see different depth zones - more than the deep and shallow at least. Ships could be more easily balanced around it and it would be more realistic too. 1

It's part of the perk, you don't like it don't get the perk. We didn't ask for a dot either, think it's funny most every one ask for return of grid and cords and we get a GPS dot with a two point perk. 15 minutes ago, LeBoiteux said: This is a perk... This is just a matter of presentation : a ship or your finger tip on the screen. Have you ever read a map and found your cords in Real Life? That isn't JPS. So stop thinking giving some one a map with cords and having to find where they are on that map is GPS. GPS is a dot that tells, "THIS IS WHERE YOU ARE." Which is what we have with the perk. We should still get cords and grip on the map for the folks that don't need a dot to tell them exactly where they are. I don't mind the perk for those players that don't know how to read a map and figure out cords, but for the rest of us we should get a grid on the map and be able to get our Long/Lats to figure out where we are. Not to mention I should be able to tell you meet me at this point, you look up on the map and if you got it right we should be close to each other on the map in that point. If your off than well one of us sucks at Navigation than. 4 minutes ago, admin said: yes. depth should be dynamic and depend on tide as well. but this is only going to happen in future games. I think there is a bit of a miss understanding as a lot of folks was expecting to get it since it was mention on the post and the pre-patch post. 3

Ships designed for the shallows, like Niagara, may underperform in the open sea against a deep draught ship in heavy weather though. 1

Speed could go either way, depending on conditions and the particular vessel. Most of all, the master might not know how to trim the ship in that condition, leading to some bad behavior. 1

If a newb learns to play the game with gps, he will get used to the luxury and thinks he cant go without. In reality, in pvp/ pbs, that perk wont help

I guess the idea in terms of gameplay behind light frigates in shallows is to make them more popular and used and give LRQ and Hercules viable opponents in shallows. Making light frigates underperform in shallows may not be the solution for that. However, by malignant opportunism, following your suggestion, I can't help but repeating my suggestion : make a lighter version of La Surprise with 24 x 9-pdr and 6 x 4-pdr (the French Unité) allowed in shallows while keeping the Surprise out of shallows. 🙂 Edited December 17, 2018 by LeBoiteux 2
Draymoor Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 I'm really appreciating the UI improvements so much, it's like 100 times smoother to browse holds and warehouse and move items around. One big headache gone from the game thank you @admin 4

kitsunelegend Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 I'm with the crowd that this gps dot isn't what we were askign for. I'd much rather have a system, that doesn't require a perk (so all players can use it) where you have to work out where you are manually using in game systems. We want content that gives us something to do on long journeys. Allowing us to find our rough position on the map using in game systems, like a mini game, would go a super long way to making this game fun again. truly fun, for all types of players, not just the hardcore fanboys. We've been asking for this stuff for bloody years. Please dont cheap out on us here.
La bouche Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 Found this interesting strings on .csv file: OW/Events/Combat/NotAllowedShipClass","Only ships rank 0 are allowed for this mission""OW/Events/Fishing/Title","Fishing spot""OW/Events/Fishing/Active","Currently fishing...""OW/Events/Fishing/Available","Fishing available""OW/Events/Fishing/Start","Drop fishing nets""OW/Events/Exploration/Title","Exploration Area""OW/Events/Exploration/Information","Exploration team ready" Really! Thank you so much, devs... 1
Tom Farseer Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 It seems the Ship Towing price in the Port UI is no longer shown. Instead it shows the ships name where the number should be. (I did not activate the translation file btw...) 1

They are a very small dev team, don t ask them to code new stuff a this stage they are full throttle to release the game as quick as possible and respect what is on the roadmap not more. it s already nice from them to give the option to those complaining about the removed trade menu + f11 to navigate. I must admit everyone have used at least once the f11 coordinates & community map. But I understand it as a perk to make people sail more closer to the lands instead of safely move far from everything, it s to help generating pvp.
