(semi off-topic)

I'm sure some will save money for next year to be able to buy the upcoming book by G. Delacroix on L'Egyptienne (1799), the 50-gun French frigate using 24-pdr that carried the Rosetta stone.

(too heavy and modern for me 😉)

1. Stephen Taylor: Commander - The Life and Exploits of Britain's Greatest Frigate Captain. Guess who 😉

2. Thomas Siebe: Napoleons gefallene Göttinnen - Die Geschichte der französischen Minerve-Fregatten

3. C.A. Marchaj: Seetüchtigkeit, der vergessene Faktor (engl. Original: Seaworthiness: The Forgotten Factor)

A nice mixture of history and seamanship 😃

Just finished this one:

Highly recommended. Also just started this one. Before NA timeline but hey it is about the "West Indies", boucaniers and sea battles:

My wish list includes Mark Adkins "Trafalgar Companion" which I am ashamed to admit I do not own. 😔 I do have his Waterloo book though!

@Hethwill the Red Duke I like George Daughan and would recommend the book below which he wrote about the strategic effects of New York and the Hudson river valley in the Revolutionary War.

Lastly here is a book that covers the building and entire career of the USS Essex rather than the Pacific cruise:

...ok... there goes the budget...  thanks guys, have to add some you posted.

Truth be told I like more the types of "man behind the machine" rather than about the "machine" tech itself.

I am with Boiteaux, the 1600's buccaneer wars and control of west indies is very enticing for me, more than napoleonics at sea or 1812.

Was also looking to this one just now

I've just started 'Nelson's Trafalgar: The Battle That Changed The World' by Roy Adkins after it was recommended here by Norfolk nChance. A great read.
