Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Anyone takes advantage of this season to decrease the hollow spaces in the shelves ? Amongst a few, mainly on ww1 aviation, i ordered these 2. What you getting ? 6
Ouwe Knar Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 I have a hollow tooth and wallet maybe fill the empty spaces on the shelves of the servers with some good updates. 1
LeBoiteux Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Just a wishing list... (no ordering) L'Aurore (1697) and the French light frigates (1661-1750) L'Amarante and the French Corvettes of the mid-18th century And the 1st-Rates of Sun King, Le Requin, The Ships of Sun King... 3
LeBoiteux Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 (edited) (semi off-topic) I'm sure some will save money for next year to be able to buy the upcoming book by G. Delacroix on L'Egyptienne (1799), the 50-gun French frigate using 24-pdr that carried the Rosetta stone. (too heavy and modern for me 😉) Edited December 14, 2018 by LeBoiteux 2
Vernon Merrill Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Period Ship Modelmaking: An Illustrated Masterclass : the Building of the American Privateer Prince de Neufchatel 3
Nick the cursed Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 (edited) Got some hopes! Not a book but... (or i've to build it, haha) Edited December 14, 2018 by Nick the cursed 1
Bragan Benigaris Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 1. Stephen Taylor: Commander - The Life and Exploits of Britain's Greatest Frigate Captain. Guess who 😉 2. Thomas Siebe: Napoleons gefallene Göttinnen - Die Geschichte der französischen Minerve-Fregatten 3. C.A. Marchaj: Seetüchtigkeit, der vergessene Faktor (engl. Original: Seaworthiness: The Forgotten Factor) A nice mixture of history and seamanship 😃 3
Angus MacDuff Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Anyone who enjoys this game must read this Series. 2
Celtiberofrog Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 (edited) https://goo.gl/images/tZFqzs Very nicely written, very promissing saga for French readers. Edited December 14, 2018 by Celtiberofrog
DeRuyter Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Just finished this one: Highly recommended. Also just started this one. Before NA timeline but hey it is about the "West Indies", boucaniers and sea battles: My wish list includes Mark Adkins "Trafalgar Companion" which I am ashamed to admit I do not own. 😔 I do have his Waterloo book though! @Hethwill the Red Duke I like George Daughan and would recommend the book below which he wrote about the strategic effects of New York and the Hudson river valley in the Revolutionary War. Lastly here is a book that covers the building and entire career of the USS Essex rather than the Pacific cruise: 2
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted December 14, 2018 Author Posted December 14, 2018 ...ok... there goes the budget... thanks guys, have to add some you posted. Truth be told I like more the types of "man behind the machine" rather than about the "machine" tech itself. I am with Boiteaux, the 1600's buccaneer wars and control of west indies is very enticing for me, more than napoleonics at sea or 1812. Was also looking to this one just now 5

Captiva Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 I've just started 'Nelson's Trafalgar: The Battle That Changed The World' by Roy Adkins after it was recommended here by Norfolk nChance. A great read. 1
Custard Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 I'd recommend the following Andrew Lambert 'The Challenge' Britain against America in the Naval War of 1812 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Challenge-Britain-Against-America-Naval/dp/0571273203
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted December 19, 2018 Author Posted December 19, 2018 Given i really liked Sea Rovers Practice from Benerson Little did also order his other work, as looking from the counter-searover service
