How can a ship with top speed 14.45 knots only does 13.7 knots at the best angle? i didn't change anything . i didn't put anything in the hold, in fact i am very rigorous with the number repairs i have in my hold to always keep the best balance between speed and survivability. If you have any doubts i invite you to do the same experience with your ships and share the results.

I am grateful to anyone who can give me a reasonable explanation.

Did you have sail force mods or ship knowledge on? Were you running loodsman?

A screenshot from the port menu would help determine the issue.

Loodsman only affects speed in the open world. So in battle you lose 5% speed from 14.45 which puts you at 13.7. Problem solved.

ok that makes sense. thank you

Yes but weight is actively calculated into your speed.

That is actually in important distinction between the Ship-Stat-Card in OW and the one in the equipment menu in port. In OW the weight of guns and cargo in the hold are considered while in port you only ever see the speed on empty hold.

Also I think that the effect Navy Loodsman should not be shown in the ships stats, as it is of no relevance in combat.

the description of navy loadsmen is wrong then since it says 5% ship speed increase

Not only that,  it is the most expensive book you can buy from the admiralty and have no value in combat. 😒

So either the effect of the book was changed in a patch (speed data shown in the screenshots above sais otherwise) or the info has gone missing during the switch of UI...
