As a fairly fresh player, most of my solo activities revolve around NPC shipping. I'm already selling balloons for reals because I need the reals more at this particular stage. Given the current balance (so far, from my view), I would expect newer players to be supplying balloons while the more established players, rich in reals but bleeding balloons, buy them up. I am used to the UI and its fine In my opinion. However a couple of points: First: The crafting and collecting of resources ( Iron etc) is far to costly. It really makes no sense to try to harvest your mines, you dont have enough hours etc. Second: I think The RNG for AI trader/warship Doubloon drops should include a base minimum of say 5 DBs per class of ship IE 7th rate 5 Dbs 6th rates 10 Dbs 5th rates 15 Dbs etc With a base Db drop for AI ship kills plus a RNG on top it would be less harsh than empty ships and would drag even more players in the OW, thus more PVP. Third: Teleportation for yourself costing Doubloons is a poor idea and not really helpful when trying to trade and craft etc. I sometimes log on to do some admin and collect resources etc and this cost seems a bit harsh and pointless. Fourth: The economy is settling down slowly, people are still struggling with the price changes but I think this will settle. Could we please have some ports especially free-ports producing Consumables at cost. This would aid use of these ports and thus more players in the OW. Fifth: Would you please look at the cost of some modules such as bow figures etc. Some of them are really not worth the cost of buying them at present prices and thus seem a bit useless. Finally: The new missions and new mods and content are all excellent and its great trying to get to port with stolen Doubloons!! We have some new players in the clan who are having a blast in the game now and there feedback is very positive. I think the future is very good with this new direction and the blend of PVP / PVE promotes good play for more players. Keep up the good work. This new patch has even the battlefield betwen PvP players and PvE players. Everybody now has acces to buy. Upgrades. As long you are fine to stay on 5 rate, all is actually good. Problem is if you want to sail bigger ships, then you will have to grind. Lots of playerd like just to take a first rate fir a Quick spin. Think that fast will die. It would take me 3 weeks to earn enough doublons to buy one. Is that a problem, yes I we would loose a lot of players. Just time will se if they will be replaced. For me there will be no port flipping. Don’t Have a first rate to do it, and are for sure not trying to do it on a 5 rate. Imo RvR are allready struggeling in this game, this for sure will not help. only time can tell whst will happen. A game cant please all. The have set a course. Think they should stick to it, no matter the affect on the playerbase.

I definitely agree with Bkackbeard. Many more players on ow and much more PVP. Great patch, just needs to settle.

Some of the old vets tears are based on old concepts which the game no longer uses.

Too early to tell wipes (and partial wipes) are always painful and force some players to leave (for a while or forever). But we have to wipe from time to time in early access. But we are very optimistic about new ways. They are better - especially pve rewards are a lot more exciting now (range of rewards instead of fixed 100k old gold per NPC trader). 8
woodenfish Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I did some PvE last night. I took 2 fleets of medium AI - 1 Frigate + 8 en 1 Belle Poule + 7 = 17 ships plus also 1 other random ship and 4 traders. For a total of 22 ships sunk and looted I got 17 doubloons from one of the mediums. I also got one or two nice upgrade drops, which is nice, but I'm not sure if the doubloon level is what I should be expecting - or if, as I say, I was just unlucky.

Its actually sorted out some problems that I never thought would get sorted. As one player said 'multiple accounts are dead now'... took a while for me to understand that. Doubloons are not such an issue as I originally thought. Nope, I think this works, but there will be people who don't like this. Its hard to tell the effect of having existing 1st - 4th rates in the game, you will only find that out with a whipe, but getting the results could take quite a bit of time unless you are applying a statistical model in the analysis. I think if there is any feedback from me at all, it's my sympathy for a new player. They will just have a learning curve, but then that's half the fun of a game. 4

I am basing my opinion on the usual doom merchants peddling their views on here. this patch has opened up the whole game for a whole new group of PVE and PVP players and it will develop into a content full game rather than a gank the noob game that it was. The old system favored the players with mods and resources that new players and casual players found hard to get. The playing field is more balanced now. Adapt and enjoy it, or well, just keep dreaming of the old days........... 3

Maybe it was a euro summer vacation effect, but there just seemed to be a lot more activity on the water when I first came back. But, as I said, I was connecting it to variable national fortunes plus fatigue from testbed participation, not the recent patch.

Example: We have a new player to the game now a clan member who is using the new system of missions and content to its fullest and he is growing fast and loving it. Time wise: You can jump in a ship, take a mission, sail out, run into other players, or do your mission, try to get back to port with loot. All in 1 hour. Whats not to like? This patch is far more like age of sail than the last PVP only rendition. 2

You can’t call me an old vet. Started play after the big wipe. But as the gameplay is now, I will spend less time in that game. Is that a problem, not if it only is me. But if more players leave than join the game, it will be a problem.
