I hope this is the right thread to post in.

I redeemed my new monies this morning and had a few minutes to play.  I was in one of my minor outposts at the time I started after this patch so I wanted to TP to the capital.  Problem is, after figuring out how to redeem dabloons after about 15 minutes of searching, then I couldn't figure out how to teleport.  After figuring that out, I couldn't figure out how to get funds into the chest.  There's no transparent way of discovering this.  In the end I had to ask in global chat before someone told me.

IMHO, this is not intuitive at all.  Should not have taken so long to figure these things out.  I even knew I had to do these things already.  Feedback on the UI I guess.

In the process I also wasn't sure if I should've even redeemed any of the dabloons anyway because I wanted them in the capital (not where I was at the time) and was thinking I wanted to move there first then redeem to that port.  No instruction is available for any one of these decisions.

Like the bicycle - you have to find it out once. And then it will feel ok.

@admin   so with new missions coming will there be some that offer a brand new player in a cutter something approaching a fair fight ?  This is the only way he is going to get enough money to establish outposts and get better ships.

Fair fight against whom? Bots or players?

I am sorry but brand new players only sail in a cutter for like 4-5 maybe 10 battles and then they rank up and find better ships - they definitely do not look for pvp in a cutter.
Remember that tutorial (if you pass exams) gets you the leutenant rank and final exam (very hard) gives you M&C. You can sail cerberus or renommme after exams. They are great in pve even undercrewed.

There will be an operation Welcome to the Caribbean for the new players that will guide them to right places and right clans. Thats why clan leaderboard is added (but not finished). No progression will be possible if a new player does not join an active clan from the leaderboard or starts his own which will be one of the tasks of the operation.

PS though i remember the posts like "i am a new player with just 200 hours"

People dont seem to be aware that this is not a SP game right? Guess Nelson would have been raped at toulon as well when alone.

I'm worried about the "last Man Standing" issue.  In a fight with multiple ships, the last player in the instance gets the biggest (only?) reward.  Will that encourage kiting?

i have Just read the book what one pirate did with a Portuguese captain who threw a chest into water.

We need to remove options to destroy coins- but i am very conflicted. I would use it too. It feels good to deny the prize to the enemy. And its totally historical as well.

what about to make it like surrender if in tag circle its not possible if outside it is. So make it a decision.

Imagine what lies he will tell his own nation-mates on how much he picked up!  (not me...others)

I think we underestimate how many new players don't need to be coddled and actually enjoy a game with a steep learning curve.   There's always going to be the fact that this is a relatively niche game....  and thats cool.  If this game turned in "World of Warships--Sailing Edition" you'd have an equal reaction from a different segment of the game pop.  Some people want hardcore, some people want easy quality of life.  Ultimately, the devs have to make the game THEY want and hope that its what most others want.

From what I see many experienced players are concerned that the game will die if there's no constant supply of 'fresh blood'.  I would say there is a balance to be struck.   I'm prepared to be patient and see if it pans out that way, after all I don't have hundreds or thousands of hours of my life already  invested in the game.  If it dies I'll just be down £30.

I don't think this is any more difficult for a newcomer at all.  It was an incredibly steep learning curve before the patch and that hasn't changed.  This patch is stressful for all the old players because it is such a radical change from the way things were done in the good old days (last week).

I'm happy not to begin in the new environment of this update....

What to do with a 7 or 6 rate with a single mission for you in the port....Even 7 rate mission are hard core for a beginner ,you have to kill a 6 rate not so easy ,try to remember . Happy if you get 18 dooblon and after ....No IA no more mission ..Ah yes the dev say's go to ennemy water with your stuck pickle you will see it's fun you have got plenty of shark's waiting for you..

No really hardcore game ok but not 100% of your time and please dev you want attract new player and keep the old one so let the game playable for the common men .

it was hardcore enough ,an Admin say the  problem was mission in capital area who where killing the game ? I don't understand why and if it was the case just don't permit mission's to pop in this area.

Doing a game for a few hardcore addict or nolife player won't work it never work ....

So basically in this patch ganking gets encouraged even more?

Pre patch, if you fought 2v4 you perhaps Managed to sink one or two and get some reward for it. Will still most likely die in the end though, but you got somethinh out of it.

Now in this patch, even if you sink 3 out of 4 and loot them all for a couple Thousand dubloons - if you die to the numbers gank in the end, it was all for nothing?

Message here being: only attack when absolutely 100% positive to win, dont take any risk, especially do never go fight at 1:1 odds

Great Stuff

There is another concern in the game mechanics. Let's put in situation:

A ship of the lines goes out for farming. He is tagged in OW by 3 enemy frigates. A pickle enters in te fight too, in the frigate side. The frigates do the job and sink the SOL, while the pickle stays far, shooting sails from distance only. At the last moment, the pickle sails to the SOL, sticking to its sides (SOL canons are far over the pickle hull).

When the SOL sinks, the pickle takes the loot and the dooblons. yeah!

With previous mechanics, the pickle would have taken the loot, but not the PVP marks… Present mechanic is a error:

  • with the pickle, who can deny any kind of reward to the frigates who did the job,
  • without the pickle, because only one of the frigates would have been rewarded.

question is it normal that the price of the rum is so damm expensif in FR it's 9reals, it's 225 gold !!!

Player prices are all over the place right now since people are still figuring out what the new profit margins and crafting costs are.

The game is like Sea Of Thieves now, except we actually lose shit when we die.

PvE to grind doubloons and PvP to steal from your enemies. This actually sounds pretty good.

But there must be a but like always. This is even more gank oriented than ever before.

Pretty much all changes in the last 2-3 years are to make this more and more gank heavy.

Don't understand me wrong, I like that in NA there are unfair fights and uneven fights. I have nothing against it. It is just that the game design is not good enough to support it so that it is interesting any more.

Multireps, Gear Balance and Gear > Skill. If a new guy in his LO/WO ship is pretty much in every possible way weaker than a speed meta gearbear, like WTF?!

New player in his speed ship is slower than gearbear in his tankier hunting ship, like WTF!?

Sea Of Thieves can be a good way to go forward but you have to provide us upgrade mechanism that supports many different kind of builds and ways to play the game.

As far as I know it's supposed to be a sandbox? Doesn't say "go get a group to gank with"

Right now it's either go gank or stay home.

Oh and by the way

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_single-ship_actions

I had 3 good fights yesterday in my Prince...   all 1v1.  Surprise, Prince and Indiaman. Haven’t sailed more than solo in weeks.

Green on Green, is two way consensus. Not one way warning.

I guess we'll see a fair amount of tribunals in the near future, focussing on complaining about small ships ninja stealing loot

This is complete opposite view  from ours. (which is fine that you have a different opinion)
PvE players can find pve a lot easier now. There is a bigger variety of missions determined by port type (more missions are coming). PVE rewards are now 10x better and bots are spread by regions (based on their rank) so you can easily find the types you need. If easy pve meant - mindless missions from capital yes its gone. But it was ruining the game. You have to MOVE OUT of capital to progress. War server has risk - pve is in kill missions or in enemy waters. Peace server is tranquil and calm and there are enemy bots assigned to every neutral town providing pve everywhere.

In terms of pvp - enough rewards depends on the view what pvp is. PvP must have risk and it gives huge rewards if you catch the right guy at the right time (on the way back). PvP missions, conquest missions and operations are not yet in and will increase variety too. Most importantly - normal players can finally make hardcore safe zone hunters pay and drink their tears. By reverse ganking them on the way back.

Yes, my opinion is different.

PVE: I hate making missions (previous fleet or combat orders, or now kill missions). I prefer to sail out and see what I can do, either PVE or PvP, not some things prepared in advance without any kind of surprise. I won't do missions, my play style can't be dictated by others, I like what I like, I don't like what I don't like.

PvP rewards were, in real life, give in ports by Admiralty… The mechanics you are defending is just pushing me out of PvP. But this is just my opinion, no more.

So no idea if these have been mentioned....but here goes.

A.... When you go tow ship to port pop up says tow ship to x port.. price 1200....is that reals, doubloons, ships, etc

B....no explanation of what workshop or admiralty is used for...

C....Why must I hover mouse over icon to see shortcut key considering in open world is in top left corner of icon...

D....not enjoying teleport fees there's enough ways to spend doubloons...

E....some of the re names of upgrades are in my opinion terrible..example rum rations changed to drinking, really?   Boarding ladders changed to climbing, really??

F.... having to loot reals from hull is a pain and also in large port battles for example it may be the enemy that loot there dead comrades as isn't possible or easy for  the killing team to loot and get the rewards they deserve...

G....assists give higher reals rewards then kills

H....server selection pictures 🤔😅🤣😂☹☹😈

There is more but that's enough for now..

Also we killed 2 Agamemnon players in seperate battles today now 1 dropped 600 something doubloons the other just upgrade and repairs no doubloons. But we did receive the 6 or 7 doubloons in the end battle results along with our xp and reals so is this intended more rng???

If intended in my opinion rng in pvp battle rewards is a bad idea....

No, the seat still hurts even though I know how to get on now.  I did the same thing again on the other server and it still does not seem smooth to me.

Anyway, the feedback is there whether positive or negative, this is just my opinion for whatever it's worth.

The server selection pictures are the wrong way around it seems.

Peace looks more warlike than war :P

I've noticed that too. They have a blue flagged ship for War and red flagged ship for Peace.

Also, port camera keeps pointing to the left side of the port if your looking towards the buildings. Every time I spawn into port I'm getting a screen full of stern. 😕
