It would be nice if the UI allowed players of different nations to trade each other in OW. I currently play the game with players from 4 different nations and the need to trade repairs in OW arises occasionally. Im sure there is a concern for alts using this feature but players already trade their alts in open world by capturing their alt's ship.

I hate how the game discourages players to make friends outside of their nation. In fact, you cannot friend request anyone who is not currently in your nation. If the developers do in fact want you to treat everyone outside of your nation as an enemy to attack, then I will continue to work around the barriers. I just wish that this wasn't the case.

I would like the addition of status of relationship between nations and if two nations are allied or neutral towards eachother, they should be allowed to trade in OW in my opinion.

"to work around the barriers "

one word: ALTS

that's exactly one of the reasons, off many reasons why people quit.

the restrictions are building up along the progress of this game more and more

restrictions ....

it has to stop.

Atm trading in OW isn't working even within the same nation. For several days it has been broken. Every time we try to trade repairs with each other the trade freezes completely after you accept the trade.

The best part of NA is the interaction between players.  The fix to promote international trade seems simple.

1) allow players to friend each other.

2) allow players to msg each other by clicking on ship.

It would be nice to trade between any player in OW, but 1) & 2) above seem like basic requirements for any type of multiplayer or MMO.  We could still trade in a open or free port, if the Devs feel compelled to restrict international trade.

Already implemented:

If it shows name - its friendly.

If it says ENEMY PLAYER - that's an enemy.

I like 1 & 2.  Having a little salt in OW would be fun.  Yes it will get nasty at times but a block function would solve that.  I'm against OW trading between nations.  We are all enemies and if you have a personal friendship with another player, that should not show up at the national level.  What am I supposed to do if I encounter a ship from my nation cuddled up to an enemy?

Not sure why it would bother you if I develop a friendship with one of my trading partners in this game.   The white oak I buy today, from a friendly neighbour, may be the white oak I sell to you tomorrow.

If you discover me, as a trader of your nation, anchored next to a ship of another nation you should do whatever to feel you need to do.  Your options are varied.  You could text and ask what's happening.  You could attack.  It might matter to you what nation the other ship is,  or not.  It's Naval Action, a game centered around combat.  How you react kinda depends on you, and the cut of your jib.

But perhaps you suppose too much, the players I trade with may flee when they see you.  You might have to catch them.  They might be faster than you.

All in all, international trade creates more content, for everyone.

If there's the need to have a enemy become friendly.... Forged Papers "Let's be Friends!".

That's what I thought, so I purchased the DLC to enable me to buy teak and white oak in Spanish ports up north.  After a month of buying I would forge my papers back to a Brit.

Then I discovered I would forfeit all my Brit outposts when I used the Spanish papers.

So the DLC is complicated.  Forcing me to remove my buildings, move or sell all my goods.

Not simple.  I doubt I will ever use the DLC.
