As the title says $40 dollars (£26.46p for me) is a lot of money to spend. Is worth the money because I don't mind its not complete yet, because it seems good and I enjoy air/ship and tank combat games and this seems to have a simular look to AC4 Black Flag so just wondering if its worth to wait or to buy it?

Wait.

Its just more simulation as AC4 BlackFlag so you have a lot to learn and nothing to explain it. Also you just start with a little ship which makes it also harder to learn. You should wait i think. Its actual more for sailor enthusiasts then normal gamers.

Personally I believe I've more than gotten my money's worth out of it.

Before you purchase, though, you may want some folks that have played or are familiar with AC4 to make a comparison between the two games for you so you don't have expectations that won't be met.

Yes, absolutely, without a doubt.

No?

It's a pretty good balance, and it's easy to learn. Plenty of people will help you. ANd the little ship is, in some ways, easier to sail (like you don't really need to know how to tack).

As someone who has played AC4 A LOT!, I can say that between this game and AC4 there are a lot of similarities in the way that the boat work and move. And also yes I know that Its not going to handle anything like A4 because once it starts moving its not going to go crazy speeds like the Jackdaw in AC4 and it going to be alot more realistic to the actual ships. But it seems to look like the dev team wont dissapoint with this game but as someone who played alot of games for my entire life so I guess you cant be too trust worthy no matter the dev.

All the information and help you need is on these forums.

No. Learning to handle smaller ships before you can progress to the larger ones.

makes it easier to learn.

Do your research, watch a ton of youtube videos on the game. If you are looking for a full game please remember it is pre-alpha testing. The game currently consists of a basic arena style game mode, and that's it. If you aren't itching to play and don't have 40 dollars burning a hole in your pocket you should wait and let the game develop.

On a side note I don't think AC4 is a great comparison.

Now, in my opinion it is in top-3 best age os sail games I've ever played, even given the lack of 3rd person action/combat or strategy. This is only an alpha, yet I've already spent more time playing it then about 95 per cent of other games I own on Steam. So I'd say it is sort of must have if you're a fan.

How would you say its a fail game?

P.S. Like your signature lol

I have exactly one game I have played more in Steam, and that's Skyrim.

Right, which should tell you how great this game is that I've played just shy of 90 hours, and I've only been playing since the weekend before Thanksgiving.

It's well worth it if you're a fan of Age of Sail games AND you understand that you're buying a game with still very limited content.

It's not a sailing simulator but it's quite a bit more complex (and slower paced) than AC4.

Best idea is to watch a couple of youtube vids, this will give you a good idea about the gameplay.

Its very cool, but it is super barebones right now. Like super-duper Alpha barebones. If you're not a huge age of sail enthusiast, then I'd wait.

If you are, its worth a buy simply to support the development team, because the work, frankly, is top-notch. The ships and water are gorgeous, the battles run great, and there is depth to combat (aside from the normal sailing mechanics). Its only going to get better with the new damage model, and the little refining touches as we get closer to a more polished alpha.

In summation: if money is tight, I'd say wait for the next big update, or when it comes out on early access. If you are a huge fan of the genre, or the history, its a must buy.

What game would you compare this to?

It feels a lot like pirates of the buring sea, but with way better graphics (not that I care) and a(n even) more realistic approach on sailing and combat [while still being fun]. Which propably doesn't tell you anything If you havent played PotBS because it wasn't exactly AAA when it came out in 2007.

Anyways. A big yes to the preorder question. I like to account 2 - 5$ per hour of not "grindy" gameplay for a game to be worth the money. And this has already got me twice the time.

Buy it!!

It is stunning visually. Fun to play. And the community has been just wonderful to date!!! I consider this to be one of my best game purchases! And it is only just beginning...

Again its very bare bones - only the sea trials combat - bare bones lobby, that's it -no characters to play just ships - no economy or crafting just ship battles currently. But I've found it very enjoyable nevertheless. Then again I am an age of sail enthusiast... :)

Again as others said, the youtube videos of combat show basically what there is now and should give you a good feel of what it is like and what part of the game you are buying. There is more planned as you can read about in the forums and website, and the ship combat is a very good start in my opinion.

Good Fortune!

I picked this up around xmas along with AC4 as i was realy looking forward to a sailing game.

So far I've done 65 Hours on this Alpha-Navel Action and have yet to install AC4, and that is because NA is satisfying i need to sail and i cant wait for the next update!!!!

so yeah how much would you spend at the pub, its like one round of drinks with friends.

Btw how is AC4?

This is the first time I have ever tried a game like this or sailed a ship in a game and I find it is worth every penny and probably more.

Learning curve is not that steep IF you read the forum for direction, FAQ and watch a couple of videos.

Have gone from smallest ship to Constitution in 6 days I do believe and I don't play that many hours at a time.

People here are helpful and fantastic and that helps a lot.

Give it a shot,  cheap for what it is going to be worth they keep developing this great content.
