Capn Rocko Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 I cant find what goods can be produced at each port. I feel like this should be obvious on the "Buildings" screen. With 5/5 buildings I don't want to destroy one just to find out what can be built somewhere else. Also, the "1/5" seen on the bottom of my screen shot is useless. I can clearly see that I have 1/5 building slots used. It would be more helpful to see my TOTAL amount of buildings without having to click on "All". Also, there is multiple rows in the crafting screen for the same resource. As pictured below, I have 3 different rows for "Fir Log". Can they be grouped together?
Wigermo Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 Is there any options to scale down the ui? Everything feels huge and clumsy
Angus MacDuff Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 2 hours ago, Schwabbel said: Seems that the Hull Repairs Blueprint is not consistent with the ship-crafting blueprints. To craft a ship I need a few trees, for the repair of a ship I need a whole forest ? Or is only 1 Hull Repair needed for the repair of one ship ? I think you get 50 reps for that
Angus MacDuff Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 Interesting point....Now that there are missions to kill 7th rates, it is rewarding to kill cutters...which includes player in cutters.
Sgorgi Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 One friend is leaving because of the new UI, so I got one big wish for devs, make it possible to keep the old UI for those who want it, pretty please, nothing to change there, just add a button to keep it. Some players would appreciate it(I don't care that much, but please, this option should be here, some players like the old one). Pretty please, this is my biggest wish for the economy update, let this be a feature.

Also, can the ship crafting card list the amount of crafting XP that will be earned by building the ship? Edited September 29, 2018 by Barbancourt 1
Captain2Strong Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 (edited) Things like warehouse, ship's hold, upgrade chest, etc. are done wrong because one item takes a lot of space without a good reason (making overly huge text isn't really necessary, even if you have to write a whole book about an item maybe make some window with info appear only when the user moves their cursor over the item? Otherwise there's no reason to show a huge-ass text that I'm not even willing to read). The text is still easily visible in the old interface, which doesn't waste space like this, it simply uses one small square to store an item, even this solution is better. This makes your windows overlap each other very often and makes everything a lot more clicky, you have to resize / close windows far too often when you want to do something as simple as craft something or move more than one kind of cargo, this makes it a lot less convenient than it was with the old interface. Unnecessary clickiness could also be greatly reduced by connecting various things like in the old interface - in the old interface you could for example go to the equipment tab - the ship's hold window was next to the warehouse window and you could move things pretty conveniently, without having to enable / disable them every time, or even resize if you have a lot of things in both of them - of course it could be made even more convenient by connecting other parts of the interface which are usually used together, unless it would cause other problems - noone would like to have two windows bound together when they only want to use one - maybe add some option/s in the setting tab which allow to bind together and unbind certain windows? The docks in the old interface were also done better, they use the small window that i described in the first paragraph of this post, rather than overly huge window for every single ship. For real, how can someone be into a bunch of windows overlapping each other? I don't get it - if someone really needs to compare stats of many ships maybe there should be some way to do that without making the interface shitty? Overall it makes the interface very annoying / inconvenient / uncomfortable without giving anything in return at all, except maybe a little bit more pleasing looks (wow, I can see my ship while I'm in port) which isn't really worth this downgrade at all. I think that a good step in the good direction, to make interfaces better is to make a separate settings tab which allows people to change how the interface looks like for them, so even if someone wants to use a bunch of windows for their own reasons they can do it, without making the rest of population suffer this pain. ======================================================================================================================== TL;DR - The interface is just a lot of work put into downgrade from the old one - too much clickiness and annoying inconveniencies, just for the sake of being more aesthetically pleasing, which isn't worth it. Anolytic Posted September 29, 2018 Posted September 29, 2018 I'm 80% certain of this: When I switched (on an alt) from the testbed after playing there and back to the main server, my hours on the main server was reset to exactly 1000 labour hours. I'm certain that I should have had 2000 labour hours on that account on the main server because I did not craft anything for 2 days. And in addition to that, the likelihood that the hours would stop at exactly 1000 hours, or any round number for that matter, is very low. Does labour hours on the main server and the test server in any way interact?

Summing them up would lead to difficulties because the amount of fir needed would apparently change depending on the wood chosen for frames and planks. It would be quite a hassle to extract the relevant numbers then. I like this transparent way better even if you have to sum up the fir needed. Perhaps the lines could read Frame logs (Fir) and Plank Logs (Fir) or Frame logs (Teak) and Plank logs (White Oak) to avoid confusion.
PaladinFX Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 (edited) When crafting cannons in your Forge building it will not let you put in the total number of cannons you need until you have the required resources in your warehouse. This needs to be changed. You should be able to enter the total cannons needed so you can see total resources needed and thus withdraw what you need from the clan warehouse, otherwise you're having to do the math in your head which is silly. Its ok as is if your not in a clan and already have the resources in your warehouse but if not in a clan and do not have the resources, maybe you want to just buy what you need, then it still doesn't work the best as it currently is set. When crafting cannons from the Forge, when you hover over the different cannons available to craft, no tool tip shows. Hence there is no way within the Forge/Craft area to tell what class each of those cannons are. The tool tips need to be added. Edited September 30, 2018 by PaladinFX 4
PaladinFX Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 (edited) When crafting there is no where to see how your crafting level progress is going within a crafting level. All you can see is your current crafting level up in top right on main screen under your rank drop down. It would be nice to be able to see you progress within a craft level too so you know how close you're getting to the next crafting level. CORRECTION: You CAN see your craft level progress. In Buildings & Craft at top of screen is a little badge/emblem with a small number in it. This is your current craft level. Hover mouse cursor over that number and you can see your progress. Edited September 30, 2018 by PaladinFX Correction - problem solved
PaladinFX Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 Currently we cannot trade from our warehouse to another player; we are having to put the goods in our ship hold and then do the trade. Bug maybe? If not then that needs fixing. Also trading with another player in the OW is not currently working. 2
Aquillas Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 I am missing, with the new interface, the screen where both the ship, the hold (all the hold, not 5 lines only), the armament, the upgrades, the knowledges and the Warehouse (all the Warehouse, not 5 lines only) were visible... Could we get an option "Use low resolution interface?"

Casanova Moderne Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 Hello, dear devs, thank you for the new UI provided on the testbed server looks much better than the old blue screen 😊. While testing the stuff I saw the currency "Piastres". How you can get it? Due performing mission, is it dropping in a particular port? Moreover, I want to draw your attention to some bugs 1. with the building "Farm": it is not generating food supplies. And finally, I want to know if provision weight must be 302t a unit. 2. Nassau Fencing Master, Nassau Boarders upgrades could not be crafted: Furthermore there is an error in the text passage which says that you need the academy building for crafting. It should be the workshop in my view. 3. I got the following blueprints and used them: "Art of ship-handling" and "Gunnery encyclopedia" In the game, it was explained that you need an Academy building for crafting. Of course, you need the books as ingredients. But there is no button for crafting neither you can see the acknowledged blueprint. I am looking forward to your answer Cheers Casanova 2
Angus MacDuff Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 Whats going on with the test bed? Closed already??

Hullabaloo Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 SUGGESTION: How about an 'Outpost Office' or 'Library' to store unused: Books, Labour contracts, Blueprints and Permits? With tabs for each outpost so you can see what documents are stored in what port. Stuff would be a bit more organised and it seems daft that a book takes up same space in warehouse as 10k iron ore. It could easily be incorporated into the existing 'Buildings and Crafting' window perhaps? 7
Hullabaloo Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 SUGGESTION: Use the padlock symbol ONLY for things that CAN be unlocked, but have an X for something that simply can NEVER be used. eg. The mortar on a non-mortar brig should be an x showing that this ship can NEVER have a mortar. With the padlock symbol, a new player will be thinking, 'cool, how do I unlock the mortar on my Pirate Frigate?' Either way you need some visual representation of what cannot currently be used and what can never be used. 4
Hullabaloo Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 Overall this is a massive improvement. Icons seem logically positioned and I already find the new UI easier to use. You can do pretty much everything in 2 clicks. It looks attractive and everything is easy to read. Biggest problem remains the port graphic which is fine for the OW at a distance but simply doesn't work close up. As many have said, I would like to see a new more attractive and atmospheric graphic for this, with some ambient sounds and more of a feeling of being in a busy port town. Immersion is good. If not a new graphic then why not just have it exactly as when you first undock in OW? with the ship a little way out in the bay? A bigger ship would never be positioned at a jetty anyway. Most ships, even Brigs, would be out in the bay and would be serviced by the port with smaller barges etc. The close up to the port with the wooden jetty just doesn't work for me. It's a shame cos everything else looks so good. 5
Angus MacDuff Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 I've noticed over the past few days that not all AI in the reinforcement zone indicate an "R", even though they are close inshore and other ships around them have it.
Christoph Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 @admin i cant trade ships with other player! i hope you will fix it
Capn Rocko Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 (edited) This screen should be changed to remove "Blueprint". I am not crafting a blueprint, I am crafting a ship. This is confusing. Also, I would like to suggest a pop up screen for ranking up. I got to crafting rank 10 this morning and had no idea until I checked. It would be cool to have a screen pop up to say "Congratulations! you made it to crafting rank x" or something like that. Same for ranking up your captain. Milestones should be celebrated 😎 Edited September 30, 2018 by Capn Rocko 4
