admin Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 Captains Please provide feedback on the user interface in port. We understand that every new user interface feels worse initially, because you got used to an old one. But we are very confident that new direction is better and easier to understand. Report on what works, what does not, what you like and what you dont like. Problems will be fixed. 7
Slim McSauce Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 Pardon my french, but this is hello kittying beautiful, thank you devs!
VirtuallyIdiotic Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 I say the ship seems to be a little out of place. 1

Tom Farseer Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 Actual feedback will follow once I had a bit of time to look at all the stuff. A big problem I have since the Testbed is live is that in OW (no matter which server) I get 1 second long freezes every 5-10 seconds. To clarify: Those are Desync/Lag-Spikes not framedrops. Framerate is stable just under 60 fps...
z4ys Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 (edited) Few things i noticed: New windows always spawn behind already open ones. In case of Equipment and then open crew results in Equipment window blocking the crew one. The latest opened window should always be the top layer. At least at charleston the basic cutter is stuck in the pier when in port UI When hovering over the book or gear symbol there is no tooltip. But when hovering over the slots there is a tooltip The cards are still to big. They could be way smaller or will we see pictures on them as well Edited September 25, 2018 by z4ys 2
Wilhelm von Seydlitz Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 Hello developer, the port user interface is really successful, a big praise 👍 Danke keep it up The ship in the harbor would have to be adjusted, it disappears under the dock (especially the HMS Alert -Basic cutter) 😉

Tom Farseer Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 (edited) First thoughts on Port UI from me: It looks very nice, seeing the slected ship in port is veeery nice. (Now all I need is a 3D-Navy menu to look at all my ships sorted by rate in a line abreast with free cam 😀) What few Issues I found in the short time are as follows: Problem: Symbolic Interfaces rarely are intuitive. This is not one of those rare ocurrences either. It looks pretty but to find something I have to mouseover every availabe button until I find what I need. The old interface wasn't exactly a looker but it was very functional and intuitive. Suggestion: A simple name below the icon (like the ones in the mouseover tooltips) will help finding stuff quicker. Problem: Warehouse/Shiphold lists have a large font size requiring me to scroll a lot or drag them bigger which uses up a lot of screen space. Suggestion: Decrease font size to make lists more compact. (might need tweaking on resolutions higher than 1080p) Problem: Newly opened windows open in the background/behind other windows. Suggestion: Always open new windows in foreground or long term solution: if feasible let players create saveable UI profiles where each window is assigned a set window-space (much more effort to implement) Question: What is the function of the 'Old scene' button in the top right corner of the port screen? Sir Texas Sir Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 (edited) I don't think wood types are redeeming right. I did teak/wo and in open world it says I have Cedar/Cedar/Mahog....same with the LVG I just captured. I felt very squashy going against the LVG for being in a teak/wo herc. Also the coins are really confusing cause every thing has a gold coin next to it, but some things take silver, others take normal coin and what's the Doublloons for? No explanation what coins cost what as they all look the same.

Nelsons Barrel Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 (edited) In port I am missing a counter how many times I rotate around my ship. EvE has it, I want it here too! Edited September 25, 2018 by Nelsons Barrel

Does that tie into 4K compatibility? I'm not so rich, but I know others running 4K say the old UI text didn't scale and was too small.
Macjimm Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 Multiple windows, arrange/size options is very helpful. No indication how to sail. Should have indication to click on Tutorial, then select Skip. The text is oversized. perhaps a option for smaller print. Graphics seem cartoon like, perhaps an option to turn off icons and use more text based UI. 1

Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 I think they are saved auto between sessions. Make your arrangement, logout and back in. What happens ?

Cecil Selous Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 (edited) I like it so far but it will take some to get used to. But different windows for everything is definitely the better choice. One thing I would like to be added is that a click on the cannon slot in the ship equipment window should open open the warehouse. Edited September 25, 2018 by Cecil Selous 1

Mr Pellew Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 Okay in general I am not very convinced by the new UI. I liked the old system with tabs better but I have some ideas on how I would improve on the current UI: 1. New popup windows have to pop up in front of already open ones 2. Make every popupwindow scalable. 3. Increase icon size for every icon in the port view bigger and show the hoverover explanation next to it at all times without having to hover the mouse over it. Makes it a lot easier to see which button does what. First impressions after only about 30 min in port.
o Barão Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 First congratulations to the intial port UI interface. It was a little difficult in the beginning to use but now it is all good. Question. Each doubloon weights 5000 . So it is impossible to carry them? Do they have a purpose in the testing?
