Why not make tow to capital only like before? Or only to free port?

Because people were hauling fleets worth of trade goods or ship resources across the world back to their capital in a blink of an eye.

Hi all. This will be unpopular but here is the thing.
Tow to port is a temporary feature. Its not going to exist in the future. It is the unstuck command that players use for travel. In the future its only going to work if you are really stuck. And this future is actually very close.

This will nerf defensive port battles, and buff offensive PB’s/ screening. I’ve never used it, but I’m not a fan of removing this just off that.

The defender should have a way into their port at all times in the case of a defensive PB. Not everyone has time IRL to drop outposts and setup ships at PB locations. Or to get there an hour or two before to make sure they don’t get screened out. And to people that say you have a daily tow to outpost, admin is talking about OW tow.... what happens when you need to defend 5 ports in one day ?

You can still use your daily tow.  This is the open sea tow that they are talking about

In a way this decision is unfortunate and game changing. Especially around Nation Capitals and Freeports which abound with gankers and port campers. Sometimes it is the only way traders can get cargo into port (by sailing to the outer boundaries of a teleport zone and teleporting into port. True it deprives the enemy of easy pray but gives traders a safety net against the predatory odds of this game.

The key to the traders' success, and in my opinion, more fun for traders, is a developed economy which makes the goods you are carrying have value to your nation and it's war/national effort rather than just a means to make one player rich.

A trader bringing a load of needed ship building or war fighting materials for my clan can get support and escort. A player making a killing on historical artifacts is out of luck if others don't have the time nor inclination to stop what they're doing to come help.

Go ahead fixing the small problems of this game,. Meanwhile you lose more and more players (clients!) because the big problems remain.

Tow to port is a feature to safe time in a time sink game, or to outmanoevre hunters who have faster ships and more numbers than the few traders this game has.. If this feature gets removed people will not spend extra time for more sailing. They will dismiss the travel they needed a tow before. Don't believe that traders will become easy targets for laizy hunters at the docks of freeports then. Trade and offer will decline and prices will get a surcharge for higher risk.

And personally I will ask myself if this game is worth the time needed to adjust my accounts at the new game mechanic.

You are referring to the La Habanna - Batabano Stargate connection?
