Give new conie to everyone so we can test it!

Just 2 exceptions, I want new conie AND christian VII. Meanwhile, Sir Texas should not receive them because he is always demanding things (like ETAs).

The cool kids would prefer Fama as their super frigate of choice, about the time she was added now ;)

Fama is ugly in my opinion plus she does not look like a frigate at all

No u ugly!....

A ship looking ugly to one person and beautiful to another is not a factor in choosing what ship goes into the game. 😐

The offspring of a Wasa and a Snow (Hercules) is the ugliness.

I see her as one of the best looking ships I've ever come across, her double gun deck might be a little unusual for a frigate but that just adds to the charm because she is all the more different. She looks nothing like Wasa or Hercules though, plus she has what I'm pretty sure is the most in depth shipyard page of any ship in the game.

I guess opinions are opinions but you guys should get your eyes checked out.  ;)

PS: we should probably get back on topic now.

And do you think they did a good job? Just asking.

Yes. (caveat being the last time I was onboard was prior to the recent restoration)

Modern constitution barely resembles the constitution of 200 years ago, she has been rebuilt and refitted too many times and at this point it would be easier and cheaper to build a whole new ship with historic methods than renovate her back to how she was in her fighting days. The new game model represents her far better and more accurately to how she was back then over the museum ship you can visit today with its various updates shes had over the years

Sigh, where would we be without you Fluffy, our resident Constitution  critic to put the US fan boys in their place. 😉 One could say the same things about HMS Victory frankly, but not many people would say she does not bear any resemblance to the Victory  that Nelson commanded.

Really I don't know what you are on about this time. They have brought her substantially back to her appearance during the war of 1812. As you are well aware Captains had considerable discretion with paint colors and that changed over time. Does she look like she did in 1797, obviously not. Did she look the same in 1806 as 1797 no. Did she look different in 1812 yes. During the war her appearance changed as well. Did she look different as a school ship in the 1890s of course. Yes they are using modern construction methods and different woods in places. However they are using the historic droughts and sail plans. If you want you can buy a copy. I thought you had a copy of the Anatomy of a Ship volume anyway - you can't tell me that the ship "barely resembles" the 1812 drawings available.

No question that she has seen multiple restorations in over 200 years but of course many wooden warships didn't last 20 years. As to whether she is still the USS Constitution  after all these years I leave you with this:

One last thing. Museum ship? Not exactly. She is still a commissioned vessel in the USN with a crew of active duty sailors. Your average "museum" ship is not doing this:

.

Sorry if it came across as a criticism, it was more of an attempt to point out how nice the new model is and in my own way how much I like it.

Also Don't worry I would and have said the same about Victory too, perhaps even more so due to being almost completely rebuilt twice, with two other major repair works as well. The anatomy of the ship Constitution does say that Constitution is considerably different now than she was in her fighting era, check page 6 and 24 (2017 Edition). Is she still Constitution? Of course she is, and we are incredibly lucky to have her and the dedication into preserving her as best as possible. Turning back to Victory vs Constitution, Constitution definitely resembles her original form better than Victory, I've seen a really good model of Victory as she was in 1805 and frankly she just looks kind of weird to me because I'm far more familiar with her as she was reconstructed following her 1814-16 repair. The game model resembles the much more modern version of Victory, not the original or Nelson's.

VIctory as she was in 1805

Weird Isn't it?

I'd really like to see a proper replica of Constitution much more true to the original, I'm loving the detail they put into the new in game model but a real live true replica of her more historic form built from scratch would be amazing, imagine her but as a ship that isn't so precious and could cruise around the world majestically attending international regattas and taking part in tall ship races. Imagine the two sailing side by side it would be incredible.

On the point of Museum ships, she is definitely a museum ship, although somewhat unique as easily one of the most active of the lot, while the other active museum ships like her are all replicas like Hind, L'Hermione, Amsterdam, Pickle etc.

Excellent!

I always preferred the "Sicily" paint scheme on the Constitution way back when we had the paints. I think it looks better that way than with the white stripe.

@admin, can I have a Constitution Classic for testing, pretty please? *shameless begging* :D
