Guest Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 (edited) The more I look at fulfilling 3 fleet ships with crew the higher rank I get, the less possible it gets! But hence we do have 3 fleet ships perk available, yet not enough crew use it, every rank stunts the command and the perk, you simply can’t have 3 crewed fleet ships and be effective or take on some of the Al fleets in game. Even using crew space planking doesn’t help, 10% is still not enough. If you did, like all cutter’s, they would be ineffective and useless against greater numbered and ranked fleets, though this maybe intended. Group battles are the most fun but not everyone is timed for battle, excluding RvR. The 2nd and 3rd fleet perks allows you to form your own battle group but this diversion is lacking condition. By game design the crew numbers have been set to restrict the fleet force, this is suitable. So to maintain this state… The fleet ship crews could only proliferate from fleet 1 to fleet 3, e.g. the 3rd fleet to have more crew than the 2nd fleet ship and fleet 3 crew could only be assigned to the 3rd fleet ship. Fleet crew to be an addition to general crew and in the crew tab to have two sliding bars, one for general crew and one for fleet crew for each ship. Fleet Crews Fleet 1 / Fleet 2 / Fleet 3 Midshipman 0/0/0 Ensign 0/0/0 Second Lieutenant 0/0/0 First Lieutenant 25/45/75 Lieutenant Commander 30/60/90 Master & Command 45/75/125 Post Captain 60/110/160 Flag Captain 75/175/275 Commodore 120/220/320 Rear Admiral 225/325/425 One balancing rule, the next fleet ship can’t be of a higher rank than the previous fleet ship e.g. fleets ship should cascade down in rate from first to last, if not then the next fleet crew bar should be disable, greyed out. Numbers are what I think could be enough to form some reasonable battle fleets but not too high as to form an over powered fleet or too higher ranked fleet and most important, “within the game design”. Galt Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 total of 1400 crew at RA = 650 Bellona, 2x 375 Indiamen. What is the issue here? There is plenty for you to run a line ship with two frigates to support you. You could even run 3 connies and be fine. I am not understanding your non-issue.

And if you wanted to run the L’Ocean + fleet ships, what options do you suggest then! Fact is there are no options.
Aster Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 well if you want to run the largest ship in the game your fleet ships will have to be smaller, so one med 5th rate or a smaller 5th and a 6th rate.

The numbers aren’t too high, just enough for more options, 1st rate was a poor example but anything else will give alternatives and varied preferences. Edit... I'm now playing first rates and still would like reasonable tenders, at least 5th rate or 1 3rd 1 4th and 1 5th, now that would be first rate Naval Action! Edited August 29, 2018 by Guest
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted August 14, 2018 Posted August 14, 2018 As long as each ship has 70% of crew it can leave port, so you can play around with the numbers at your own risk. Being a multiplayer game, a fleet, in the sense of a full flag squadron at least will never be possible solo but requires a team of players. What is possible for a solo is having a ship of the line with brig or sloops as tenders. Remember: OW travel speed is always done using the speed of the slowest ship at any given wind angle. Example, a L'Ocean and 2 Lynx tenders will sail at L'ocean speed when upwind and using Lynx speeds downwind.

Well I’ve been exploring this avenue and this is my feedback, the game is not exclusively RvR or PvP, I wasn’t looking for tips. As a solo player this would add a real dimension to solo’s game play, 70% of us according to some industry statistics. If you took time and look at the numbers with fleet 3 perk, you’ll find that with a 1st rate you could only run 5th rate tenders rather than 6th or 7ths. the same for 2nd rates but better 5ths, 3rd rate some 4th rate tenders and so on. With only fleet 2 perk better sustainable fleets but still not an advantage for 1st rates. It'll work because its not bulk crew arrangement. I’ve been running Ingermanland with an Agamemnon as a fleet ship (as commodore) and taking on multiple fleets, battles are amazing. If we could add one or two more tenders as Real Admiral, it would polish this aspect. Edited August 14, 2018 by Guest
