Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Plenty of games have this TIPS as one liners in the loading screens. Would be nice to see them in game also. Given it is just an idea we all can build into it, no ? And see where it leads. So let's do very concise one liners that can also be nice tips for newcomers and vets alike, no matter how basic they are. I will post a few examples: _____________________________________________________________________________________________ "You can hide all the chat windows, while sailing, by pressing the T key" --- "Reinforcement Zones allow to call AI support when attacked by enemies. Not when they invade your battles." --- "Reinforcement AI are support for the players. They are not replacements of the players." _______________________________________________________________________________________________ 'Trade ships can enter enemy ports' --- 'The wind will periodically change direction, in battle.' --- 'A battle stays open for 3 minutes if it is out of the reinforcement zone. Beware any player can join within this period. ' --- 'Expect sailing in a sailing game' --- Double tapping a rudder order ( A and D keys ) will hold it hard over until cancelled. --- 9
Guest Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 'Trade ships can enter enemy ports' 'The wind will change direction periodically in battle.' I think this is a good idea.
Roronoa Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 I also think its a good idea, especially in NA where there is much to know. A similar post was created by Wyy: 3

Let the newbiews know what will happen in greenzone and much more. As a community we can create and collect the tooltips, DEVS can just put them on loading screens. Example: A battle stays open for 3 minutes if it is out of the reinforcement zone. Beware any player can join within this period.

Norfolk nChance Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 @Sir Hethwill the RedDuke Before One Liner Tool Tips there needs to be a Control Base. Like a Wiki with all the Control’s and where the Tool tips drive from. Then they can be deleted or updated as and when in proper fashion. If you did just offer “Tool Tips” it will suffer massive legacy issues like “Press [CTRL] + L to see both enemy and your own bullet logs...” my tip “Press the [HOME] + Z/X (up/down) + middle mouse for increased speed” Drone View Norfolk.
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted July 24, 2018 Author Posted July 24, 2018 This is a Guide. Whatever Devs want to do with the one liners is up to them. Carry on. All liners added in the opening post.
Norfolk nChance Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 @Sir Hethwill the RedDuke I really like the idea, but you and I know the Dev’s need to keep information up to date. This needs to be thought out and have one conduit that changes all exported views otherwise it won’t be done... Norfolk.
Captiva Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 To repair when in Open World, press the 'F' key or 'Fleet' icon at bottom of screen, then choose Hull, Sails, or Crew. 1
Liq Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 A bigger ship doesn't automatically imply more skill. 1

Farrago Posted August 16, 2018 Posted August 16, 2018 "Use superior numbers wisely. Your strength is in mutual support."
StaleMemes Posted August 18, 2018 Posted August 18, 2018 (edited) 'Adding cargo to your ship will increase its weight and slow it down significantly, so only sail with what you need.' 'Carronades are lighter than medium and long guns, so arming your ship with them can increase its speed.' Edited August 18, 2018 by Capt Aerobane 2
Bluetooth Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 At the start of a battle, use your telescope (Shift Key) to examine the enemy ship and see what type of guns he has. Carronades, Mediums or Longs.
Bluetooth Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 While in battle periodically press the (tab key) to see who has joined the battle.

Bluetooth Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 (edited) Sailing with the wind leaning you towards the enemy will prevent leaks from waterline shots. Edited September 3, 2018 by Crow
Eduard L'Aquila Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Careful getting too close to bigger ships, they might attempt to board you!
Eduard L'Aquila Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Did you know that "forecastle" is actually pronounced fo'c'sle?
