NethrosDefectus Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 (edited) Just wondering if anyone has successfully completed an epic event since chain was limited. If so, how did you go about it? Edited July 14, 2018 by NethrosDefectus
Vile Executioner Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 Here’s how to do it you sail up to the one of which is separated and go broadside to broadside with it at point blank. For some reason they do not fire at point blank.
RedNeckMilkMan Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 (edited) Basically get 6 LO/WO ships with thickness, hp, reload and repair. Focus fire a target and rotate injured players out to repair. AI will focus the most injured player so usually you can have 1 or 2 players dodging while the rest sink the ships. Take lots of hull reps and do not get boarded. While my buddies worked on the ship's side HP, I chained. Then once I repaired I'd rotate out with someone more damaged and he'd chain. There's no real *need* to chain them, they'll still be faster than your LO/WO floating battery ships, but ball won't do much damage at range unless you've got a perfect angle or only shoot your lower decks. At least chaining makes you feel a little bit useful as you run away from AI to repair I'll further add: if you keep the weather gauge and continually tack upwind throughout the first part of the fight (at least while you're outnumbered), the AI will try to follow and end up tacking, changing its mind, tacking back, then change its mind again and tack again. Each time it tacks it will fall further behind you. Odds are in your favor that 1-3 AI will become separated this way and your group can focus them down.
Nelsons Barrel Posted July 15, 2018 Posted July 15, 2018 Determined Defender made them quite ezpz. LO/WO loceans and enjoy.
Teutonic Posted July 15, 2018 Posted July 15, 2018 the AI seems to stubbornly target the weakest players, almost to the point of ignoring everyone else (until they switch targets). You can take advantage of this time to pound the AI's HPs down while they attempt to find a place to put a broadside into the targeted ship, defend the player that is being targeted and allow them to repair. It takes a coordinated team of 6 players, but if you can properly manage the "Aggro" it's pretty "easy." usually the first clash between your fleet and the AI is the scariest, after you whittle 1 or 2 of the AI down and get their loot it's a breeze.

Take lots of hull reps and do not get boarded. And we even done it with a mix of 4th rates and 1st rates so all AGGY's or all L'Oceans isn't needed. Like @William Death said we rarely chained them. Most the time if you did it was to slow them down so you can sink them as they like to run at full sails away from you. Speaking of which why do AI not use Battle Sails now? It gets annoying when your fighting an AI in a tanked out ship and all it does is full SAILS. Though I haven't done them since they upped the loot last big patch. Wonder what they drop now. PS I'm normlly the guy that DC's right at the start or gets stuck in the bad spot so I sped the first 5 mins freaking out trying to stay afloat and than all is good after that...lol 2
CeltiberoClearco Posted July 15, 2018 Posted July 15, 2018 Takes 6 occasional players caught in the nation chat. It's got cheap first gear, no upgrades, and few repairs to keep you from sinking. No coordinating, no talking for TS. No focus. Each to his own and fight for the coffers of the sunken enemies. Do not protect the injured partner. The less you are at the end, the more you touch. If only one of the above points is met, I guarantee you will all be sunk. 1
Guest Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 Did one recently. It was average difficulty, one major fuck up could result in death but if you sail competently you will be fine.
