Соглашусь с автором поста. Вернуть бы в игру для атмосферности и разнообразия было бы полезно. А то снаружи (OW) дождь, гроза, непогода, но внутри боя тишина и покой. Порой было тяжело играть в таких боях, но весело.

There ARE storm battles still. You just have to be in storm to be in one.

yes but the sea is calm...look at 2nd video...we need waves, big ones

The Devs have already answered this request. They will never have the large wave battles again - no matter how bad we wanted it. They said that was their final word. Their artist would have to redraw everything again they said. Like you, I wish the big waves were in the game.

I don't remember reading that but I do remember them mentioning statistics of people going afk/disco during Sea Trials when they got storm instances.

I vaguely recall server strain being part of the equation too.

I can't think of a better way to improve NA than to have the option for storms.

To appease the players who hate storms I suggest that they be confined to areas of the map that can be easily avoided.  Players that have no appetite for dealing with weather could sail around the storm areas, instead of through them.  We could even have cyclic foul weather seasons, so most of the time players could sail through the storm zones and be certain of fair weather.

For everyone else weather is a feature that would improve the game play and provide added excitement.  Shortcuts across storm zones, during storm season, could entice the trader who is willing to risk an encounter with nasty weather: The benefit could be an increase in Travel XP and reduced travel time.  The risk could be damage to sails, rigging, masts and/or the ship itself.

The sailor's greatest enemy has always been the sea.  Opponents and cannons would seem puny and insignificant compared to might of a raging gale. There are lots of players who would love to pit themselves against the wind and waves in a storm instance and be forced to sail effectively to avoid damage.  It would be thrilling to encounter storms where fighting was just not possible, and a player must make every effort just to keep the ship afloat.  In a truly violent event, the mountainous pitching waves would make moving and loading cannons impossible.

From previous threads I understand that the Devs have little motivation to create storm instances, and the game engine might be too limited, but the sea should have a huge influence on ships in the age of sail.  Respectfully, the sea state has no effect on game play in NA.  The briny deep is unimportant.

In my dreams I imagine a Naval Action where ships can be damaged by rocks and shorelines, but that is a different topic.

Hello all,

Yes by all means, we should have to fight nature and the sea as much as each other. The sea can be a cruel mistress, her wrath shows no mercy and strikes all equally. Only the best or luckiest survive her. The possibility of ships being lost at sea. Wreckage washed up ashore or floating out at sea for players to find etc.  Would like to also see ports affected. Needing to be repaired after a hurricane etc.

Happy sailing and may fair weather be with you.

but you can sink in a storm

its dangerous for small ships to maneuver

and also difficult to handle the sails

it looks nice ,but handling ships in a storm is of another category

it reduces speed and ship manoeuvrability when the wind is strong against you ,but you will have more speed if the wind is with you

heel will be stronger

and heavy loaded ships can capsize

Storms would be great content Imo!!!

Possible additional decissions captains could face in heavy weather:

- how many sails should i set (full sails in storms would sooner or later cause masts to break)?

- which gunports (deck-wise) should i open up for how long (open gunports under water would cause fast leaking and eventually sinking)?

- which bearing should i steer (big waves hitting the ship at it‘s long sides could damage its hull)?

It's like with the expenses of SOLs. First most people ask for it, and when it happens, the protesting starts again.

Same will be with storms. Especially when they prevent people from using all their fancy gunports, let them receive damage, or even lose ships in storm and find themselves again in port, shipless. Storm romantics will turn into salty comments again.

By the way, I also like troublesome storms.

Personally, I hate storms when sailing the OW and I will hate them even more during battle instance.

that's kind of the point. You're not suppose to like a storm as a captain unless it means a getaway.

I like the storms but they are too big and too long.  Yes it adds a nice touch of imperfect weather, but it kills your gameplay if its lasting too long.

OW storms are too rainy and blinding, it should be light on OW and heavy in battle.
