Downunderjock Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 On Steam Greenlight Community, under the search of "Naval". Like this Sim/ Game. There seems to be another one similar? Called "BlackWave" abit more Crew 3rd person aspect. Among other things. Plus I am sorry to say a Dam, Sea Monster, in it. But you, check it out and see what you think. See Ya. "Keep your boat afloat, with a bucket at hand" otherwise, It's hello, to "Davey Jones Locker." 1
Pheasent Plucker Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 couldn't find Blackwave. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=215596418 is that the one you mean, Blackwake?
Robert Danforth Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Their pre-alpha does not look as pretty as NA's pre-alpha.
Flip Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Their pre-alpha does not look as pretty as NA's pre-alpha. The ocean does look the same or very similar though doesn't it.. I wonder..
Flip Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Well they're using the same engine. That doesn't make water look the same. The assets are going to be different. Makes me wonder if the asset store was used. For example all of those below are from different projects in "Unity," but the engine doesn't make the assets, it renders them, if that makes sense. Note the lovely default skybox xD
Mirones Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 and dont forget that they have to make specaily ships for themself because of the Damagemodel they use and the Gameplay is more about FPS and maning a ship with real people. so NA and BW have diffrent gameplay goals
Prater Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I have been watching that game for awhile. The part where the players work together to man the ship is cool. But yes, different type of game than NA.
Leviathan Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 It will appeal to a different audience as it won't be as focused on realism and will lean toward the arcade side of the spectrum. It will also only be based around team battles without the open world/mmo aspect that NA will have.

Leviathan Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Yes it is. I hope they are successful and make a quality game to represent the genre. It's been neglected for a long time.
Lord Roberts Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Blackwake is like Guns of Icarus, it's really an arcade type of naval action, It does not have the accuracy Naval Action does.
Balck Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Reminds me of a certain mod for Mount and Blade which also has it's own green light project: http://store.steampowered.com/app/293010/ Original mod thread: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?topic=262462.0

A new Napoleonic period mod came out recently with full single player, its pretty awesome so far.
Destraex Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 I thought the kickstarter had failed for this one. They claim realism but I cannot see it happening.
kaboki Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 I think it looks cool, I will get it for sure if it comes out . It's a totally different game than NA so it's hard to compare. The more of these sailing games the better. 1

What a great spritual successor to Sid Meier's Pirates!
Balck Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Wow. What a great spritual successor to Sid Meier's Pirates! It does have that feel with a bit more grit. Ship combat though is nothing compared to this game It is a testament however to the M&B game designers that it can be modded in so many ways that it is still alive and kicking.
Liam Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 It certainly looks like an enjoyable game. I played Guns of Icarus after much of the hype had passed, and with some coordination it was a blast, but sadly the server population was already low and dropping. Although this game will draw a different sort of crowd than something like NA, I hope it turns out successful, seeing as good Age of Sail games have been few and hard to come by over the past decade. I see the developers have also started a kickstarter on August 3rd, ( https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2000479544/blackwake-reboot/description ) and only 8 days later, they've already quadrupled their goal. Day by day, it seems like the competition in the Age of Sail game market is growing... which may not be a bad thing. 1
Sir Madoc Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Definitely going to get this as it looks like so much fun. The ship combat mechanics will not compare to naval actions in terms of realism of course. I think this thread should be allowed since it is not an MMO thus does not pose a threat to Naval Action.
Sir Madoc Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 I thought the kickstarter had failed for this one. They claim realism but I cannot see it happening. That was there old one: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2000479544/blackwake-multiplayer-pirate-fps-set-in-the-age-of/posts/1076870 There new one seems to have been a success: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2000479544/blackwake-reboot I always wonder why Naval Action didn't try crowd funding tbh.
Sir Madoc Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Plus I am sorry to say a Dam, Sea Monster, in it. Umm what's wrong with that?
Sharp Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 you are right. If people continue to follow and support these games only more will come! Like this http://www.seaofthieves.com/ 1

Like this http://www.seaofthieves.com/ The question is why age of sail games are suddenly becoming so popular. Edited August 12, 2015 by Sir Madoc
