Toroges Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 with Homepage and Forum? And is it Possible to make a Forum here in German? 1
Flixerine Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Not that I know of, but there are quite a few of us Germans here, so it might be alright to make a little section in German somewhere, not that I'd need it, but for those who aren't really that good with the English language... Also, you can always start one.
furyGer Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 i hope on a german forum too.... my english isnt good and i dont have the motivation to find all my mistakes in posts
Toroges Posted January 4, 2015 Author Posted January 4, 2015 Hmm ok we will see it One Question, whats coming up in the Next Patch?
Percival Merewether Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Not that I know of, but there are quite a few of us Germans here, so it might be alright to make a little section in German somewhere, not that I'd need it, but for those aren't really that good with the English language... Also, you can always start one. Actually, they're also helpful for people who aren't good at german! I know german but I haven't used it for ages, if there was a german community/TS Server then I'd surely join to improve my german further
ParaBellum Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 A German forum would indeed be nice and I'm pretty sure we'll see one in time.
Mirones Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 TS3 79.133.47.4:2335 have to set up channels for Naval action but shouldnt be a problem. if you have problems understanding some posts ask me or bungeelemming for translations
BungeeLemming Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 If we shout loud enough we may as well as the french community get a german subforum.
blokzeil1 Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Its i think better for a community to got one forum in englisch, otherwise you get seperated groups. I am Dutch, and my englisch is bad too, but i try!
BungeeLemming Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Already we have a french subforum. That means if there are enough people who feel the need of their own subforum they have the right to create one. Remember there are people in the internet who can not read english at all. And to all those who cannot express themselvs and/or dont understand all the writing its a reliable way to gather information. One big community is all fine.. But only if everyone has the same level of understanding. -my cents-
Mirones Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 since the german part will be fairly small having a smaller forum is easy to handle for us we can still post the english version of sugestions and feedback from a german subforum but there are currently more important work for the devs.
admin Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 We are looking for 1-2 active german speakers to take care of the german sub forum If you are such a guy report here and we will set it up. Responsibility will be translation of news, articles guides and general help to players There is one negative though. Devs won't be able to talk to you there. We only know Hende Hoh, Ih bin getroffen, Ziel zerstört.
BungeeLemming Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 If there is going to be a german subforum I can take care of it. I certainly need another dude who helps me out since I am having exams every now and then (university/uas) We will see how much traffic arises in such a forum but I am confident I can handle it. ps: mirones is a pretty nice guy and I think he would join in as well (at least I wont be surprised if he wants to)
Mirones Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 *holds up papershield* ,,Will Wörk for Wörk,, i allready get PMs regulary explaining things to them so no problem
Meerkat_Messerchmitt Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Ich auch - ein german subforum would be great. If it is there, many germans will see it and say, hey - there are some more germans like me :-)
Juliette LaCroix Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 I agree if the general statements of adding sub forums in all the big languages. But I don't like the idea of deviding people by language at this state of development. I understand people with little to no knowledge of english wouldn't participate in general, english discussion. But I fear sub forums will kill participation of people who are just not very comfortable with english. And as much as I like ot believe it, I don't see devs browsing other languages than english and russian.
ParaBellum Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 I don't see it as a problem. Those who are comfortable with English will still visit the (English) general discussion forum in addition to the German forum while those who aren't that fluent in English will have a place to discuss the game. I see it as a win-win situation.
Naxos Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 German ("Tschörmän") is one of my native languages, must say that creating a subforum won´t hurt anyone and we know gaming communities: pPeople not able to speak Inglisch too good will always stick with their peers, communicate in their native language and dont involve too much with the rest. Thats a fact. Most games I know are dominated by native english speakers and a few folks speaking very good english. Not that they form the majority, but its most easy for them to communicate. But every dedicated player counts for a nice community, so we need to integrate the German, Russian, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Serbocroatian, Chinese and whatever players as well! PS: I didnt list up Scandinavian and Dutch players, as you guys mostly speak perfect english!
McGuinness Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Grüße Kapitäne. ...melde mich auch zum Dienst. German forum would be nice. McGuinness
Meerkat_Messerchmitt Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 sub forums will kill participation of people who are just not very comfortable with english. And as much as I like ot believe it, I don't see devs browsing other languages than english and russian. You shall not fear of that, it is a standard in many other international forums. Sometimes it is easier in own language and to make new contacts :-) As i can see there is a french and russian forum yet ( i cannot read kyrillic or speak french much), but they exist because of need. Aye
Horatio Hornblower Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Ich zitiere mich mal selbst aus dem Thread "French translation". I cite myself from the thread "french translation: Posted 06 November 2014 - 02:31 PM Simfex, on 15 Jun 2014 - 8:13 PM, said: Sure, I can understand this wish too. But I think in the beginning of this game it will be hard for the Producers to translate all the different languages. In a later time it is essential for the game to present the Forum in the most important languages. I hope for a german one. I am german and having read all the "Hornblower" series in german and all the Aubrey/Maturin series in contemporary english and having found a sailors dictionary from 1911 I offer my humble services for translation into german. Not full time, but hobbywise which would hopefully still help to spread the word for this awesome game. Ihr könnt mich immer gerne kontaktieren für Übersetzungen (@Bungee: auch für ein von Dir/egal wem gemanagtes deutsches Subforum), als berufstätiger Familienvater kann ich aber keine Zeitpläne garantieren. Freiwillig mach ich gerne, verpflichtend kann ich leider nicht mit machen. 3

Aye I'm well aware of that, But, been there, did and saw that. In PotBS in the beginning there have been quiet some guilds who were devoid of any english knowledge (which in no way they are to blame for. This kind of game is very special interest and may attract many older players, which, as far as germany is concerned, and I'm sure you are well aware of, is not the audience to be distinguished by there english skills.) Of course for this audience there should be official channels to communicate. I'm just worried, if people start to call for "their language only" channels/forums/etc, there will be whole subcultures of players not participating in faction business as a whole. Which I consider a bad thing. Non the less, socialising is a lot easier in your own language. You have a point there. 1
Meerkat_Messerchmitt Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Maybe - due to the sold out keys, we will have some more germans on board i hope I shouldnt have posted screen shots on my Facebook and Flickr ^^
Von Rosenau Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Servus Herrschaften, in another forum thread I saw all kind of "groups/navies" of various nationalities. (http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/1734-list-of-posted-naval-action-groupsnavies-updated-jan-9-2015/) Although no major German nation had something like a navy (that could compare with the British, French, etc.) in that period of time, maybe there are people who are interessted in such an organisation for German sailors. Best regards Grüße aus Franken
Gottel Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 I am sailing myself in real live and I am much more comfortable with german words when talking about it. Reading forums is much more easy A german speaking fleet would be great! Schönes Wochenende Gottel 1
