  1. 1. Would you PARTICIPATE in a *smaller* tournament?

  2. 2. Would you like it to be 1v1 or 2v2?

As we know, the last tournament attempt was a failure - partly organizers fault (I guess not being strict enough on setting dates), partly the result of essential changes making it pointless to continue and having a comparable result (sailing profile changes), and partly simple not being able to get 8 (+1 ref.) online at the same time for 90 minutes to have a battle.

I am still very sorry for all the teams that got let down, that actually did their battles and are now disappointed. The way it ended is perhaps the worst case scenario.

Thus my conclusion is that organizing a 4v4 tournament across time zones is pretty tough - And that I personally won't try it again.

Why not step it down a bit?

Are you interested in a 1v1 / 2v2 tournament? And if so, what ship.

CONTENT.

If we get enough players and see if the most liked setting is 1v1 or 2v2, discussion about ships setup can continue.

lol I'm the only one to say "NO" so far, but needs a better option for the second one like, "NO Cause I don't duel or do tourney."   Though I do think the room leader should have option to pick the group size from 1-6 or even 12 per team and have the option to put players on teams if they want.  Kinda like WoT Training room style.

I said "yes" but my preference would be for it to be based on same rate v same rate, no restrictions on mods and repairs, fight to the death. If there is no winner by end of battle, both lose. All the matchmaking stuff and trying to agree on repair numbers etc is too complicated.

i prefer 2v2 aswell.

to ships: maybe a BR again and the teams can choose their competition

or (and i like it more)

randomize the ships the teams have to use maybe from 5th to 3rd rate. when you draw the matchups, draw a ship aswell which has to be used by the teams in the match.

2v2 or 3v3. The problem with Exile is we can play tournament only during the weekends...

You can play with bom because I'm sick of the uninteresting casual combat system. Constantly having 1 mod deciding  battles is not fun. Maybe if we do it in basic ships and no books etc.... All I know is that the meta will be Carthagena, xmas masts and northern carpenters. 0 fun what so ever because there is nothing tactical about it with meta after meta. Determined defender, multiple rum, multiple reps is just hello kittying ridiculous and frustrating.

yes and 2v2

and I do agree with what you say Liq.

would need the following information to really get it going
1. ship limits, or BR, or hardcap otherwise
2. whether mods be open to anything, restricted, or off limits
3. dates and time for setup
4. The ability for each team to have substitutes (for example in a 2v2 tourny, the team has 2 main players and 1 or 2 subs if time constraints are an issue)

When it comes to dates, battle schedules and which teams fight which might i suggest the following:
1. teams are notified who they go against
2. each "round" within the tournament has a time period, lets say 1 week
3. teams must coordinate a time to meet up and battle within that week
4. there must be a recording of the battle or a screenshot of the end result
5. If a team fails to communicate and have a battle within the Rounds time period or goes "afk," they forfeit the match.
6. If a team fails to respond to another team in attempting to create said battle to continue in the tournament they forfeit the match.

In the instance of teams being in "opposite timezones" I am sure there could be some leniency and find a good time for everyone to meet. I would highly advise however that you @Liq should make it known that if teams or players who don't respond within a certain time, auto fail so you can move the tournament forward instead of it grinding to a halt like last time.

of course, these are just suggestions, but it is good to know all the details before the tournament starts and not have to constantly update informaiton as it goes on
