Sorry I guess the pictures don't really explain it. Public fleets like eve. Everyone asking "who has fleet going?" or "what's going on today" and if you just look at the current running fleets a.k.a groups, you can link up with people who are doing whatever they say they're doing in their fleet description.

People run trade fleets so, coastguard fleet, attacking fleet. A way to advertise PVP or PVE if that's what you're doing. More people playing together, I would host a fleet probably every day for various PVP things. It would make it a lot easier to recruit people and find other who want to do the same thing.

Or if I'm trading I start a safe trade group, a few people join and we don't sail together, but we know where we are and can quickly respond if one of us gets attacked.
Or run one for people to run missions

You have to admit, having to call for people to x up in nation chat is a pretty sub optimal way to assemble groups/fleets.

I can see doing this in Nations where you have a match making system.  Wouldn't exactly tie to the clan stuff,  unless you have the option to recruit only from your clan or friendly clans or make it a public fleet group.   This way I can do a, "CT TRAINING FLEET."  Put it open to every one, or limit to friendly clans or just my own clan members and than folks can see that I have a group started and they can join.

I enjoyed the inception way of presenting this idea, I didn't mean to suggest it was unclear.

Aces High has had this feature forever. Was great fun when I started, made for fun insta tour-de-force landgrabs (ganks in our terms). "Meaningful pvp" lost it's meaning to me and I focused on "The Fight" in the AH open map and the duel arena.

I bet the "winning the war" dudes would love and use such a feature to bits.

I suggested because getting a group together for anything in game is almost impossible. You have to have everyone x up in nation and invite every single person who comes along and sometimes I just want to have a group that anyone can join easily and quickly see where I am and have our own channel to discuss of course.

US is a good example because we usually always have people patrolling the coast, but there's no way easy way for these people to get together without doing the nation role call.

Groups are good for preparing right before a battle where the call to arms happens and everyone x's up. But they aren't good enough to keep open or have the ability to join without needing an invite as an option, so they go unused in all but that circumstance.

exactly this, give us all these options and you would see it being used from everything from people looking for others to do missions with, to recruiting small/large pvp squads, to setting up trade networks and crafting networks and also rooms for people who just want to talk in a private or semi-private session in game.

Would be a great way for clans to organize with each other, do diplomacy, train newbs and have SECURE COMMS!!! (the biggest one imo) :)
