Now that the tag circle is smaller 15 seconds is far to long for a tag imo. An enemy ship can sail straight through the tagging ship and get away.

I agree with hachi. Tagtimer and tag distance go hand in hand. If you decrease one the other has to be decreased as well. Same for the opposite.

Your assumption would be correct only if the aim of the smaller circle was to advantage the tagger over the tagged also in open sea.

One could argue that the smaller tag circle + old tagging timers is just a tradeoff: you now spawn closer to the tagged ship in battle but you need more attention in positioning and tagging because the tagged ship can now perform more effective evasive manouvers in open sea.

Tagging players is not the same as tagging ai

It's a bit silly when a ship almost scratches the side of you yet you have to wait 10 more seconds to tag.

Kind of reminds me of Morrowind's combat, you don't hit until the game says you've hit (even if your swords goes right through someone's head)
