Prob suggested before but....) ability to signal to an enemy ship in the OW and challenge to a 1v1 duel. If they accept and one tags another then then battle starts and instantly closes.

This is needed more than ever now as there is no means to communicate with enemy ships in openworld. There is danger game is going to turn into all out gank fest. 1v1 duels could be negotiated before, but without openworld communication they are difficult to arrange.

I really like this idea, but what if two people from different nations are hunting together and they’re being chased? What will prevent them from tagging eachother?

yeah good point...let me think.....    ....... some kind of timer?

or maybe the duel battle does not close then, but is marked as a duel and players are honor bound not to join or......

fight must be 'to the death'. Players cannot leave until one sinks and if battle ends with both still alive they both sink?

Same mechanics that is used during logging off in OW could be applied.

You set Yourself for 1v1 Duel, both drop sails and have 30 sec timer to start the duel while standing still.

If duel will be interrupted by some other ships tagging one of the duelist, the battle is created like normal, however both duelers are in the same team fighting off the ship that attacked them.

Yes, that could work, I’d just alter the timer to the same as in a normal battle (2 min?). Possibly put a red battle marker above their position in OW to let other players know they are waiting for the duel timer.

Bring back duel room

I'm in support of bringing back the Duel Room, but not in support of limiting the OW combat engagements in this way.  This type of lobby based combat arrangement is better suited for Legends.

I take your point, I don't like rooms, lobbys, patrols, red v green, zones or any of it. I agree that should be left for NAL. It's an openworld game, let people fight in the open world how and when they want (or when they have to) and I suppose an openworld duelling system would run contrary to that. I wonder though if a duelling might be worth the exception because its such fun and such a good test of skill and the current inability to communicate with enemies in the openworld is going to severely limit what for me is the best part of the game.

Naval Action Legends is your game .

I disagree. In naval action, ships are important if you fitted them with mods. So some of them being very valuable, in NAL, it is nowhere close. In OW there should be a DUEL option, where no one can enter, intense 1 vs 1 duel, where you can lose your ship, your fame. So it will show your skills against the other captain, no one will come for aid. It will be skill + your ship. Btw if you don't accept the duel, the other guy can still chase you.

I would love to see this kind of addition. It should be like combat mission, with no advantage of wind for both sides.

It could be closed instantly, but be a battle like the ones in patrol area: No escape! If they tag eachother to safe themselfs, they have to wait 90 minutes and i dont know, if its worth it.
