Hello,

i often go on YouTube to see good fights and learn from those. I am a newcomer, and I have little if none interests to 3rd until 1st rank: they are very good to see, but as a newcomer as I am, I cannot use those ships, so it's interesting to see them and learn for the future, but I live in my present, and in my present I sail with low ranks... I know the 90% of you will tell me "they are useless, too few powerful, too few armored" and bla bla. What if I'd like to sail with those, in the future too?

What I miss right now are good fight among low ranks (7th-5th). They simply don't exist as for as I know. Maybe because the majority of us is experienced and we are a relatively small community, but are the 7th-5th ranks really so rubbish? I think it will be a good idea to show what they can do, too. A good battle with DD in the WW2 games are very fun to see (and join to), why none here uses the low ranks?

Sail around the Bahamas from Shroud cay where only shallow ships can sail. This is where 1v1 and small gang PvP happens constantly.

Shroud Cay - often there's players willing to 1vs1..

Which Nation rules the zone, now? I should come from KPR and it's a long way to reach it. I could create a new captain under the Bahamas's ruler flag, only for the sake of low rank PvP.

Sorry if I ask for it, but I will not at home before this evening (EU time).

Shallows are your best bet, but the problem is when you got one or two nations that own all the ports and some folks camp the only free town less and less folks will sail int that area.  You British so that could be a problem for you not finding many folks to fight since you own most of the ports in that area.  Still folks hunt in it.

It would be nice if we can get some more nations to hold shallow water ports in that region so lower level players and even higher levels that like small ships can have bases to fight from without worry about the shroud cay camping by others.

New players from the small nations actually start in Shroud Cay so its a popular place, the Brits have a big presence in the Bahamas and do lots of PB's there. Find a clan who is focused there and join them.

Sail up there in a basic cutter, pick a port and open an outpost there.  That way you can teleport in any time you like.  Once a day you can also teleport a ship up there from kpr.  There are often ships for sale up there too.

I don't think a lot of new players are going to want to go be loners in the Bahamas far from their national/clan activities and materials.

You should be able to find a clan in nation that will cruise in 5th Rates, and you can probably tag along in anything.  Finding good battles is just an overall problem no matter what you're sailing.

I don't even think a lot of new players know that they can have fun in battles at low rank: this is a race to reach the 3rd-1st rank, most of all. I understand, fighting in a Victory with millions of cannons is cool, and it is indeed. But making so, we teach the newcomers that only in big ship is fun, and instead it isn't: you can have your fun even in a Lynx or Brig, if you wish so, it's a matter of mental attitude, I belive. What's the point to have 10 ships every rank if then we use only 5-6 of them at all?

I am not saying "This is the best way to play here, and all should play like me", but I like to find someone with my own ideas about this game.

Rank or Rate?  1-3 Rate ships are pretty much only for RVR stuff.  It's sadly true that 6th and 7th Rate warships should be cruising everywhere and aren't because for game reasons there can't be any real extra cost to grinding something larger.  I can sail fatties, but they aren't as fun.

OK, but we're all on the forum so why not apply the question more generally to help the wider audience?

I don't have an answer for any other place where a player can go do pvp in a 6th rate(cheap) ship and not get hammered by trolling endy's trincs and bellonas...

Indeed. I haven’t tryed from 4th up to 1st rate ones yet, but i can say that the low rates are really fun. My preferences are on the FaA ones.

Most of the casual pvp is actually happening on 5th-4th rate. (belle poule, trincomalee, endymion, infatigable are well regarded these days)

3rd and higher are usually more for port battle and "organised" / "planned" ow battle between group of players.

And this is just as it should be. SOLs for battles. Frigates for cruising fights and anti merchant actions.
