seanjo Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 As the title suggests, name your favourite ships of each class and what upgrades you would want on them. 1
_Masterviolin Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 7th rate: Lynx or Privateer, whatever boarding/crew buffs i can get, copper plating for sure, l/w ropes and blocks, crooked hull. 6th rate: Niagara with speed, handling/turn and gunnery mods of that order in importance. I have had some awesome experiences on Niagaras and would love to repeat that. Rattle comes second. 5th rate: Check signature, handling and gunnery mods. She needs to be fixed though. I liked her tun rate and armament, and she used to handle very nicely as a highly effective support ship. 4th rate: Connie if they fix it. Speed mods for sure, second priority handing/turn rate followed by gunnery. I adore the historical nostalgia, and she's beautiful. 3rd rate: Easy really, Bellona. Turning mods and l/w ropes and blocks a must. Beautiful ship. 2nd rate: Bucenature, gunnery mods and turning mods, various gunpowder upgrades to fetch those thicker SOLs, a very aesthetically satisfying vessel with its sleek look. Man cave on poop deck a bonus.7 1st rate: Barely sailed these so not sure, but Vic looks the nicest. 1
Guest Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 7th rate: Privateer easily...There's this swede that tries to smugle into CS from time to time on a capped LGV and I used to take a few off him.. not enough that he'd stop, just enough to have a bit of fun.. 6th rate: Rattlesnake - not the ugly unrealistic, ahistorical "heavy" rattlesnake that are ingame now.. loved the original was a cheap way to take even new players to go PvP'ing.. 5th rate: Endymion. Hands down the most beautifull ship in its class.. and if you have to sink - do it with style. 4th rate: Shitty ships the lot.. But agamemnon is my favourite mainly due to the PBs we had in her before the wipe. 3rd rate: Wasa, used to be the Bellona, but never go wrong in an OP ship.. 2nd rate: Bucentaure - handling, guns and cheap.. what's not to like? Even got a whorehouse on the aftdeck.. 1st rate: L'Ocean - the best looker among them.. reason? - see 5th rates..
Guest Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 7 -Trader lynx - 6 -Niagara 5 - Indefat 4th - Wapen 3rd - Bellona 2nd - Buc 1st - Santi
RedNeckMilkMan Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 7th: Trash 6th: More Trash 5th: Trinc 4th: Wapen 3rd: Wasa still op 6 chasers and turns/tacks like a 5th 2nd: Buc 1st: Vic 1
TommyShelby Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 Unrated; Hate ehm. 6th; Hate ehm. 5th; Haven't sailed them much since the sailing model was changed. Before that though; Santa Cecilia (Hands down the sexiest 5th rate). 4th; Agamemnon - Sexiest 4th rate no doubt. 3rd; Hate ehm. 2nd; St Pavel - Looks great and turns better than her counterpart (Bucentaur), great when you don't like people stuffing balls up your arse. 1st; Not a fan but if i had to choose it would be L'Ocean. She just looks better than the other 2. 1
Nick the cursed Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 (edited) 7th rate: Privateer without doubt, very fun to harass bigger ships with it and escape upwind! Funnier in manual sails since the sailing profiles update. (i like Pickle and Yacht, too, just for their looks) 6th rate: Huummm... Not sure... No!!! It's the Snow for sure!!! (my favorite ship in game) Amazing turn rate, good sailing profile, very pretty, bow/stern chasers, overgunned... Funny against the 5th rates! (Prince is nice, too, but i prefer to sail a Privateer for this type of sails) 5th rate: Maybe Frigate, looks nice and pretty heavy... I like the LGV refit, looks nice too, but i need more practice on it to make some big traders hunts... I don't sail a lot of 5th rates, btw. 4/3/2/1st rates: I don't sail them, too big, too slow, too boring for me... But i'll say Constitution, Pavel and Victory just because they're beautiful! ^^ Edited February 7, 2018 by Nick the cursed 3
Jean Ribault Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 (edited) Oh, this is easy......... 7th: Traders Cutter 6th: Traders Brig 5th: Le Gros Ventre. Indiaman next runner up. 4th: Constitution 3 thru 1 rate: no vote Edited February 7, 2018 by Jean Ribault 4
Slim McSauce Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 7th rate: Lynx for the looks. 6th rate: Snow because its a mini frigate 5th rate: Renomee/endy for the speed. 4th rate: Constitution for the memes 3rd rate: Bellona I guess 2nd rate: Buc, cleanest cannon setup of any ship plus the house on the top deck. 1st rate: Lotion for the curves 1
William Death Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 7th: Gunboat Hehehe... but if you make me choose a ship that is in game currently...well, I don't really sail 7th rates but, when I had one, I liked the Yacht. The Privateer isn't too bad either. 6th: Prince I tolerate this one the most...although I really prefer larger ships in general. 5th: Endymion My favorite ship in game (and for all the people who cry "thats only because its OP!" it has been my favorite since about 1 month after it was made craftable [remember that was back when it was fast in basically 1 direction only]). It has an excellent gun loadout and shoots very smoothly--perfect for demasting other 5th rates with. Its fast, it has chasers, and if handled properly, it can turn pretty well. It is pretty flimsy though, so be careful! Santa Cecilia was a nice ship the last time I sailed it. I've heard its been hit hard by the sailing physics patch though... 4th: Ingermanland (with Wapen a close 2nd) Ingermanland for the 32pdrs to demast other ships. Four bow chasers are nice too, as is the speed and turn rate. Again, be careful with this one, its not very tough. I had to mention the Wapen because the handling is just superb: it may not have the best firepower or speed, but it spins on a dime. 3rd: Bellona: Another one of my favorite ships. The gun loadout is great, the handling is great, it is reasonably fast and it can take a beating. Just don't expect to beat a first rate into submission or catch the fastest 5th rates and it will serve well. 2nd: St. Pavel: It might not have the firepower or side health of the Bucentaure, but it has loads of turn rate and it has a lot of tumblehome to assist in bouncing shots. Play it carefully and you have a very potent ship, play it poorly and it will let you down every time. 1st: Santisima Trinidad (with Victory a close 2nd): Santisima has excellent firepower, very good handling, good turn acceleration, and enough tumblehome to help bounce shots if you do your part. It isn't as tough as a Victory or L'Ocean, but it makes up for that with reload-shocking firepower. Again, sail it well and it is excellent, sail it poorly and it will melt like ice cream in the summer. Victory (nerfed though it may be) can still turn better than the other two first rates and it has excellent turn acceleration, allowing fast angling to bounce plenty of shots. Remember it doesn't have as much firepower though, so play accordingly. I just don't like the L'Ocean too much...HP-queen though it may be, the turn acceleration is too low to angle quick enough to bounce shots, at least that was my experience in it. 3
Guest Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 7) Privateer - I rarely sail this class, but I have a few good memories taking on 5th rates in a Privateer. 6) Tie between Rattlesnake (normal) and the Prince - Both are lovely hunters, and the Rattlesnake in particular is a gorgeous little ship. 5) Indefatigable, with Endymion a close second - I have loved the indef since it was released, and only recently has it become viable as an OW hunting ship. In the he past the low speed was always a problem. Bonus - Santa Cecilia was my favorite for a long time. I have been lucky enough to own this ship both before and after the wipe. Unfortunately in its current state, it doesn't make the list. The current version is close to worthless. However, in its old state this would have been my #1. 4) Agamemnon - Just a beauty, pretty simple really. Always loved the lines on this ship. She also packs a serious punch. 3) Bellona - Definitely looking forward to more diversity in this section, but even with more options, it will be tricky to surpass the Bellona. 2) Bucentaure - Unfortunately the only other choice is the Pavel, which often finds itself being bullied by 3rd and 4th rates. Not a lot of competition really. 1) L'Ocean - Love it for its looks, although it handles like a brick. Never been a huge fan of sailing 1st rates.
Ahoy H.R. Matey Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 7th and 6th rates: none. 5th rate: Endymion! The sleekest and sexiest frigate ever built. Indefatigable comes close second. 4th rate: The Constitution. Please devs, give it some love. Both visually and performance-wise. And make it 5th rate. 3rd rate: Bellona, but I barely ever sail it. 2nd rate: Bucentaure, AKA the mini-Victory! Also has a shack to stash all my porn in. 1st rate: L'Ocean. Probably the best modeled ship in the whole game. Also one of the most advanced SOLs ever built (IRL that is). Sad that it's become worthless after the last patch. 1

Bragan Benigaris Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 Unrated: The Lynx/TLynx - the fastest way to reach unknown regions far away for exploring and trading valuable exotic goods. Mainly with speed updates, sometimes with crew/boarding upgrades 6th rate: The dreaded Navy Brig - a reliable and really sturdy workhorse, use many different upgrades for different tasks. 5th rate: Renomee, together with Belle Poule - both beautiful ships and my favourites since beginning, the Belle one of the most versatile ships ingame imho. Mostly with speed upgrades. 4th rate: Constitution - I'm a frigate-man and this is a super-frigate :-D; currently experimenting with sailing profile upgrades (eg. Pirate Rig refit) and speed upgrades. Dismissed any turning upgrades, because 5% of her low turn rate are nearly nothing 3rd rate: No frigates here, so no favourite. I'm sailing both in occasions, depending on which i get cheaper 2nd rate: No frigates here ;-) And didn't sail any until now; Maybe Bucentaure because of current sailing profile. 1st rate: Also, no frigates here ;-) Too big for me. 2
blubasso Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 (edited) For me it’s easy: 7th Rank: Privateer and at second place, Lynx. But a well built Basic Cutter gives satisfactions, now i am sailing a live wood one with carronades: she is very robust and she sails very well. 6th Rank: the only ship i tryed was a Rookie Brig. A pain in the... 5th Rank: Even if i could sail them, i didn’t tryed them: too expensive for me, atm. 4-1 Rank: too powerful for my level. Edited February 7, 2018 by blubasso 1
Pada Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 Unrated: Privateer 6th rate: Rattlesnake 5th rate: Trincomalee 4th rate: Constitution SOL's : Bellona And speed and mast upgrades for all. 1
Liq Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 Never sail 7th rates Prince Merc Cecilia (when fixed) Aggie Bellona Pavel for the looks, buc for performance Vic 1
Navalus Magnus Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 Despite of not having much time to play atm, I like to do RvR. Therefore i‘m sailing what is needed. But my favorite ships from the look of them are: Rattlesnake Renome Constitution Ingermanland Agamemnon Bellona Pavel Victory 1
Odol Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 7th - Lynx; because its fast.... and a good trade ship hunter 6th- Prince; Bigger than the Lynx, and really just an upgrade all around. 5th- Reno; Speed!!!!!! 4th- Aggie; Balance of speed and power good all around ship 3rd- 3rd Rate; Bigger Aggie, and not as cookie cutter and expensive as the Ballona 2nd- Buce; Is there another 2nd rate? 1st- Victory; It is the best rounded 1st rate in the bunch. 1
Barbancourt Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 7: Yacht, because I can 6: Rattlesnake, because Fort Snow feels a little cartoonish 5: Belle Poule, now that the lovely Renault is a bit of a chore to sail I don't have enough experience with Tier 1-4 fatties to have an opinion on those 2
