I am very seriously considering buying the presell but would just like to ask if there is any tutorials included and what else do you get for your money. Thanks.

Everything you get is listed on the page, including the bonus items as and when the Developers add them into the game. Tutorials currently do not exist, however you can find a lot of help on how to play in the Youtube thread.

The game play is fairly intuitive and simple - the strategy you choose on the other hand is deep and wide.

 

It's like a pogo stick - grab it and start - you'll figure out how to do it!

Ramjb has several tutorials on youtube as do others. There are several different ways to tack in game in the tacking thread as well (I think it is in the sea trials forum which you get access to once you have a key).

Thanks all for your replies and help, I have gone ahead and bought the preorder and am now waiting for the key. Now I know if I could hear you all you would after my next question have great big sighs and say what a dumbbell but exactly what does PvP and PvE stand for?, sorry in advance, LOL.

I asked that myself a week or so ago (has it been so long) - PVE is Player vs. Environment (bots) - PvP is Player vs Player.

 

 

lol Ram... you answer his question with almost as many acronyms as you defined. i.e. "AI" "MMO"

 

PvP - Player vs Player

PvE - Player vs Environment. Playing against the computer

NPC - Non Player Combatant. The name given to computer generated entities. They can be enemies, friendlies, characters you buy and sell stuff to, etc.

AI - Artificial Intelligence. Another way of refering to an NPC.

MMO - Massive Multiplayer Online, Refers to online games with thousands of people that play in an online world.

P2P - Pay to Play, refers to online games that you have to pay a one time or monthly fee to keep playing

P2W - Pay to Win, refers to games that are free but in order for you to be competitive you must buy gear, ships, equipment, etc with real money

F2P - Free to Play, defines itself

 

Potbs - Pirates of the Burning Sea, An almost dead Age of Sail MMO. 

WoT - World of Tanks, Tank pvp game that you will see people reference

WT - War Thunder. Similar to WoT with Airplanes

EVE - No acronym here that I know of but you will see it referenced quite a bit. Its a space based MMO that is very successful

WoW - World of Warcraft, a fantasy MMO that is usually referenced with grumbling and spitting.

Once you are looking at a boat:

 

Press w to go faster - s for slower

Press Left arrow to turn left and Right arrow to turn right (when you are looking at the front (bow) aka Port and Starboard).

When you are looking out to the right (starboard) - press right mouse button to enter starboard "Gun sight" mode - you will see a tell tail red "sight" - press space bar to fire 1 gun, left mouse button to fire them all (on that side).

 

That's enough to get you having fun - you might want to try a few bot games first to get the hang of it!

Thanks so much for your help all and ampaholic, if your the guy with the 18 pounders I'll be the guy with a yacht getting the hell outer there LOL.

PS I do know what LOL stands for although years ago when I thought it was "lots of love" it got me into some embarrassing situations .

As you can see I have changed my name as he got all those girls on Tahiti. The game could include them in the future, now that would be a bonus LOL.
