Thomas Blackwell Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 I took the liberty of compiling a few questions I have seen multiple people ask throughout the forums. This is not the official Game-Labs FAQ. Instead it is designed to try and answer some of the questions new members/testers may have about both the NA Forums and Naval Action itself. This thread will only cover basic questions. It will not cover questions about future development of the game, nor will it cover questions directed to the Developers. All questions about the current and future development projects of Naval Action, as well as less general questions about Naval Action's current state should be taken to the 'Questions to the Developers' thread linked below. Please follow their instructions on the correct way to ask them a question. QttD Thread: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/558-questions-to-developers/ More Detailed Guide for Novices: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/2533-a-short-guide-for-novices/ ~~Moderators feel free to add your own Q&A's. Users and Testers feel free to post questions you think should be added in the comment section below. If you have a general question that you want answered, post it below too. Cheers. ~~ FAQ About The Naval Action Forums Q) What is the easiest way to find the topic I am looking for? A) You can use the search function to find keywords, or you can check out Barberouge's Topic here: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/616-wheres-the-topic-im-looking-for/ Q) How do I change my name on the Forums? A) You can change your name by clicking 'Display Name' on the left side of your Profile Settings. Q) How do I open my Profile Settings? A) You can access your Profile Settings by clicking 'Edit My Profile' in the top right corner of your profile. FAQ About The Game Q) How do I change my key bindings? A) You can change your key bindings by opening the Naval Action Launcher and clicking the tab marked 'input'. Simply double click the entry you wish to change. Q) How do I change my graphics options? The second can be done during a battle by hitting the ESC button (or which ever button it set to open your in-game menu). Q) How do I change my in-game name? A) You are allowed to stream, screenshot and record Naval Action gameplay, so long as it's not showing off glaring bugs, and is posted with a clear explanation that Naval Action is in Alpha, and thus is not the final product. JulietPapaOscar Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Where are the GFX options? I've noticed some people mentioning a anisotropic filter slider and such, but I can't seem to find the GFX options to do that, I only get low, medium, high, ultra, and custom. When I select custom there are no custom settings as you can see...
PIerrick de Badas Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 could i buy the games for other people giving them the key i pay?
Henry d'Esterre Darby Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Yes, since each key is different, paying for another key and then forwarding the key to a friend when received should get them in just fine.
Thomas Blackwell Posted January 1, 2015 Author Posted January 1, 2015 Where are the GFX options? I've noticed some people mentioning a anisotropic filter slider and such, but I can't seem to find the GFX options to do that, I only get low, medium, high, ultra, and custom. When I select custom there are no custom settings as you can see... I have not been able to find a slider which makes me question it's existence, though I may just be blind.
UltraVires Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Since Tom's a Moderator, this is probably as good a place as any to ask... with the new rules for forum signatures... is mine too big??
BungeeLemming Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 definately yes. You can try to make one banner out of those or put them next to each other with less height. The black flag is about the maximum height I do not feel spammed. You should think of your signature beeing repeated over a few posts.. Its going to be hard to see the postings in between 1
UltraVires Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 ok, I made them smaller by %30... is that better?
Thomas Blackwell Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 ok, I made them smaller by %30... is that better? looks fine to me.

I've noticed some people mentioning a anisotropic filter slider and such, but I can't seem to find the GFX options to do that, I only get low, medium, high, ultra, and custom. When I select custom there are no custom settings as you can see... Select custom then once you are in a battle, hit esc. Tada!
SYN_Bloody-Bandy Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Question RE: Surrender I was in my first PvP light battle and saw two ships grapple/board. The ship on my side sank, the the enemy ship was still afloat, so I kept hammering at it with double shot until someone chatted that it had surrendered. Only then did I notice the white flag. I didn't know we can surrender in-game? If not, what happened? Did the friendly ship win the melee and then sink? If so, they would have captured the enemy ship and changed the flag, no?
Sharp Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 I think it was because there was not enough crew left to man her
BungeeLemming Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Please add this to your game selling method part: Steam (we hope) will come within 1-2 months. [...]
Cobolt Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Hi All, I'm keen to be a part of the Alpha testing on Naval Action but being from New Zealand I'm concerned there will be few players on the server when I am able to play - usually 6am - 11am GMT. Are there many on the server at this time? Cheers Cobolt.
Thomas Blackwell Posted February 20, 2015 Author Posted February 20, 2015 There is quite a large aussie and nz crowd i believe. 70 or so are usually on during slow periods. (not peak times)
Admiral Von Gerlach Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Thank you for the Q&A that is very useful. Good to know the specs and peramaters of the project. thank you. 1
BungeeLemming Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 some ship customization is already prototyped (only colors for some elements) but it will be tested after sea trials 2 or maybe even 3. plz add this one to the OP, ty
Marlinspike Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 I see forum moderators, and I also see "staff" -- are they the same? Are they listed somewhere? I also see groups like "members", "testers", "moderators" etc. Are these groups described somewhere? e.g. how they are joined, what they mean. It looks like Admin is the only Game-Labs employee on the forums. Is that correct? These seem like good questions for the Community FAQ.
BungeeLemming Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Moderators are freelancers. We originally were (very) active (and constructive) forum members wich were given this priviledge from the devs. The devteam is "divided" into two roles: either Administrator or Developer. Wich basically mean the same. Here you can have a look at what I mean
ghost51497 Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 can i pay the devs for a exceptional pirate frigate?
Mr. Tree Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Is it anything like i hope it to be: Sailing to a port and along the way ecountering enough players? Or are rhe maps so vast thag you can't find anyone? I've heard that lots of people are just sitting in the ports waiting for pvp matches. This would mean less people outnon the high see and a gamebreaker for me. Can you tell me.if this is correct? I'd love to try this game but if people.are just pvping instead of sailing and encountering each other this is a no go for me.
Puuruoska Pete Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Now, when new nations are in map, I think, probably some changed their nation for "patriotic" reasons, for example some German player may have switched to Prussia, and its totally understandable. I was just wondering is it possible to play Russian captain without knowing the language and had not kyrilic keyboard? I live in Finland and that means that educated, or just a ppl who see whats happening around, knows some russian basics at least, And same with swedish.
Quineloe Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Some winning-team-joiners hopped over to RUS as well.
