Corona Lisa Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 Victory marks are in the game to make 1st rates something rare, valueable and something special. The 1st try was to do it through higher crafting costs, but people just grinded more and everyone had tons of 1st rates again. It didnt work. Now we have it bound to conquest. It still does not work because a - More Victory marks are given out than 1st rates sink. So Victory marks are not that rare. b - Its bound to conquest so small nation have no chance to get them while others drown in them. It snowballs and is unfair. My suggestion: Make Victory Marks craftable. You need to combine following parts (like book of five rings): 1 x Treatise of the perfect hull - randomly found in PvE Epic Events 1 x Treatise of perfect balance - randomly found in shipwrecks from bottles 1 x Treatise of weight distribution - Given to top 10 in PvP leadersboards 1 x Treatise of perfect masts - drops randomly when crafting ships Obviously these items need to drop in sufficient numbers so first rates dont get too rare. There is something for almost every activity in this game: PvE, exploring, PvP, crafting (except trading, I have no idea for this part). Every part is equally important. Its not bound to how well your nation does, it is dependant on the effort of the single player who wants a frist rate and on how good his community works together. It cant be abused and is still limited and valueable. 2
troody Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 Leaderboards can (and surely will) be abused.... anyway i like this idea somehow

Christendom Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 No conquest leaderboards. No marks. Prior to PVP and VMs there was no “farming” abuse. As long as there are exclusive items to be obtained with marks, people will do whatever it takes to get them. 2
Fargo Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 (edited) 1 hour ago, Jon Snow lets go said: The 1st try was to do it through higher crafting costs, but people just grinded more and everyone had tons of 1st rates again. It didnt work. It didnt work because once you got a large ship your grind income increased exponentially. Also conquest wasnt working, people had just all time to grind for the largest possible ships. When no ships need to be replaced, you can make ships as expensive as you want without effect. Those ships need upkeep/repair cost that results in similar or even less income than mid lvl captains earn. Balancing in general becomes impossible. You cant make mid lvl ships well accessable for mid level captains and at the same time still valuable for high rank captains like this. Edited February 5, 2018 by Fargo

The community is small, shouldnt be too hard to identify the black sheeps. And if they punish them harder (who cares if his alt gets demoted 2 levels) 90% of them will stop.
SirAlatriste Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 It should be a more expensive craft maybe... And pay some extra money...
Farrago Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 IMO we should seek balance for gameplay and players desires and not worry TOO much about historical accuracy that 1st rates are rare. It appears the Devs are going to implement a way so smaller nations can obtain them. Let’s see how that plays out. If it doesn’t work, or inflation or 1st rate supply runs rampant, What about a way to limit horded supply and encourage their circulation? What if only 5 could fit in a Captains Chest, only 10 could go in a clan warehouse, and they were otherwise not stackable. Players would have to use valuable warehouse space to store them, spend them, or eventually push them to market.
